Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Fans, will you trade the Wiimote for Horsepower?

we would have 3 similar consoles just like last gen, if nintendo went with standard control pad, we have seen graphical leaps every gen so it was expected that we would get better graphics when a new console arrives, it was getting too predictable imo, then the wii shows up and goes a different path.

graphics is not everything to me, if a game takes full advantage of the hardware that is built upon it will look good and play good, every great game is built on those principles be it NES game or a PS3 game, so no i would not trade the wiimote for extra horse power, i can always buy a HD console or build a Gaming PC if i want great graphics.

I've read many threads on this site, before actually joining the forum. One of those threads spoke about if Wii wasn't released would you still have bought a system this gen. Now I'm not trying to insight trolling or whatever, but for me the answer is no. I remember last gen having a feeling of deja vu and games didn't feel as fun to me anymore. I was given a 360 as a gift but I wasn't really feeling that either, I figured I was gonna just sit it out this gen. My boy had the Wii, and I was like oh let me try it. Played the baseball and the tennis and I felt like I was pickin up a controller for the first time. I kept pressin buttons that had no effect on the screen, I had to get used to actually doing the motion, and is was FUN. I played Madden 07 and that sealed it for me, got the Wii in August with Prime 3, and have been chillin ever since. I say all that just to say that, for me graphics I feel hit a plateau last gen for consoles, I recently got put on to gaming pc's like 2 years back, and those graphics are ridiculous, make the HD consoles look like the Wii ;) But gameplay is king, and motion controls is the direction every console will adopt next gen. Nintendo deserves respect if nothing else for being a trailblazer of our beloved industry.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I like the wii very much but as a hardcore gamer with a HD TV, I want blockbuster type of experience.

I kind of regret trading in my wii for a PS3 because I love Mario Kart sooo much. But it is kind going back to standard graphics after all the HD games I have.

But I just may buy a wii again when a new Zelda or Dragon Quest game comes out.

No!

4 ≈ One

No, but I wouldn't complain if it also had HD graphics.

Err.. no, it's one of the main things that made me buy 1 in the first place.

The thing about Nintendo is they are always the pioneer in Gaming.

1. NES..Mario Brother brought gaming out of the ghetto.
2. SNES, First Console with 3d graphic chip ie. Star Fox.
3. N64 - First console with analog stick..Now a standard.
4. Mario 64 - Bringing platformer to 3D.
5. Now Wii with its Wiimote.

That is why I love about Nintendo, they seems to be 2 steps ahead of the competition in innovation.

I just wish the Wii look a little better on my LCD, that is all.

Meh, HD graphics? :/

I just want gameplay. Not that HD is bad but...I honestly don't care much about graphics.

We all know the success of the Wii is squarely because of the combination of the Wiimote and a stellar lineup of games. I am very happy for Nintendo's Success. And one thing is for certain, by the end of the generation it will have the vast majority of 3rd party core releases, just as the underpowered PS2 did. Also,  we don't all care wether a new Mario game or a new Zelda game will have HD graphics, because artistic direction is much more important that number of pixels.

So my question to Nintendo diehard fans is, if we can rewind the clock, do you wish Nintendo would just release beast of a console with HD graphics comparable to Sony an Microsoft with just a stardard control pad? Or you are perfectly fine with Nintendo decision to go with something new and get all the casual onboard but have xbox 1 graphics.

I wish Nintendo would have done both when they release the Wii back in 2006. I want my Zelda with Fable 2 graphics and Mario with Banjo graphics.  Oh, maybe with all the money Nintendo is making these days, they will finally give that to us in the Wii 2.

Mario Kart Wii is still the most fun game this generation. Now imagine Mario Kart in 1080P!

That first paragraph of yours was a nightmare, but it's fixed now.

So now to answer you questions.

I am glad that Nintendo went for innovation instead of graphics

The Wii is not for casuals, I will laugh at you when you are forced to buy one to play all the core 3rd party games that it'll get by the end of gen

The Wii does not have xbox 1 graphics, it's graphics are noticeably better

What the heck are you talking about. The Wii only has Nintendo games that sell and only a few third party games sell. And most of the 3rd party games that sell are like Carnival games and Sonic Mario at the Olympic. Please, have you even considered games like L4D, Fallout 3, Resident Evil 5, SF4, GTA4, are impossible for the wii unless they dumbed it down like Dead Rising. I like the Wii, I even said that, but you are soo wrong in regard to my first paragraph.
