Dragon Quest is unpopular in the west. The last one sold decently because it had a demo of FFXII in it.

That is because DQ is not so popular in the west, maybe with Nintendo it can gain the west like Sony with FF.

FF has a bigger audience than DQ outside of Japan, in Japan, they're both insanely huge, only DQ moreso. So, who knows.
But DQIX and X will probably end up being the most succesful installments in the series, seeing how it has garnered a greater following outside of Japan in recent years, compared to when the DQs of old came out. So more people who'll be buying the games. Japan's a small market compared to the rest of the world.

Don't overestimate but at the same time don't understimate DQX in the west. It sure will sell like all X360 jRPGs to date combined, not to say Japan where it has a chance to oversell FFXIII. FFCC:TCB might be bigger than DQX in USA, but I doubt it, no chance in Japan though. Pretty obvious things imo.

I hope FFCC:TCB will be more interesting expirence than FFXIII for me. I know what to expect from main FF instalment. FFCC:TCB is kinda "dark horse". Do hope it'll be more innovative and inspired game than all latest FF-blockbusters, which are despite of very high production values quite secondary, boring and somewhat jRPG cliche expirence. Tired of SqE.

I figured the group making FFCC:CB took on the WiiWare game and maybe helped with the DS game once they saw Nintendo's successes start to happen this gen and that is the reason for the delay with this game (I also kinda hope they delayed this game to make it a LOT better than the original FFCC) but I never thought it was canceled.
