Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii + Left 4 Dead = OMFG, right?

As much as I love my Wii and Wii FPS controls, I hate juggling friend codes and Wii games with random people doesn't have the greatest records.  Also, since mics are more or less required to play the game properly, that's another issue for the Wii.  Just about every 360 owner has a mic, just about all PC users have something they can use as a mic, not nearly every Wii user bought Animcal Crossing: City Folk.

Friends codes is just a Nintendo thing though.  Plenty of 3rd Party games use their own system for online friends.  The records system is nothing, just a little database on a server I'd imagine, the Wii doesn't even have to do anything complicated, it's all down to the servers.

As KylieDog says, Wii Speak is sold separately for between £20 - £25.  I don't know how much 360 headsets are but they aren't going to be much cheaper than that.  The more games that include Wii Speak functionality, the more people will buy Wii Speak.

Having to add people (friend codes) to play online would add a layer of annoyance, while simultaneously removing the ability to jump online for a quick game. The only way this could work on the Wii would be 4 player local.

Every Wii game I've played online, bar Animal Crossing, allows you to jump into random online games, without the need for friend codes or whatever.

Alright.. so I guess what were left with is that it could work... in theory. Reality is that valve doesn't care about a wii version, and will spend their time and effort elsewhere. I still think a game without local co-op that requires online play to get anything meaningful out the game would be a tough sell to wii owners, period.

The question is would Wii owners want L4D? I know one who wouldn't.

Wii speak is sold seperatly also.

Yeah, but that would be something else to buy on top of the game because I know I'm going to kick anyone from my server that doesn't have a mic.

I'd pick it up for sure. Thats one of the HD games I'd like to play. Who is that published by?

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

Well if they were really serious about it, they could also have a wii speak bundle, so people know its a big part of the online, and that'd help move units too I bet.

lol, seriously? I guess if it was your server that would work, but i don't think i would vote to kick someone because they didnt have a mic. As long as a couple people have mics and are organized it works fine, imo.

If I'm playing with friends I'm more understanding since I actually trust them but if it's random people, they must have a mic.  XBox Live is already bad enough with the 12 years and the game is already hard enough, I don't need some Rambo that runs off, gets pounced by a Hunter, and then can't tell us what's happening.

So yeah, if it's a random game, I'm making the server and kicking anyone that doesn't have a mic.

Left 4 dead on the wii...wow. It would be a surprise to see such a crazy game on the lovely little wii lol

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD
