As much as I love my Wii and Wii FPS controls, I hate juggling friend codes and Wii games with random people doesn't have the greatest records.  Also, since mics are more or less required to play the game properly, that's another issue for the Wii.  Just about every 360 owner has a mic, just about all PC users have something they can use as a mic, not nearly every Wii user bought Animcal Crossing: City Folk.

Friends codes is just a Nintendo thing though.  Plenty of 3rd Party games use their own system for online friends.  The records system is nothing, just a little database on a server I'd imagine, the Wii doesn't even have to do anything complicated, it's all down to the servers.

As KylieDog says, Wii Speak is sold separately for between £20 - £25.  I don't know how much 360 headsets are but they aren't going to be much cheaper than that.  The more games that include Wii Speak functionality, the more people will buy Wii Speak.
