Oh, so it's my fault that a saying that had nothing to do with sales is being used for sales.
Fail.

It sold just fine, it's a good innovative game, and i think everyone knows it is a success. I think the problem lies with the Hype that this game has (especially on this Forum because of DJMeister's LBP will be huge) and expected some kind of ridicilous numbers (like 5-7 milion lol). This game will sell fine but it wont be anywhere near SMG numbers.

Thats BS and you know it, the only innotive company is Nintendo, this isn't a Nintendo game thus it's not innovative so to claim it is, is just wrong, please take your statment back now!!!

I'm sorry. I must have missed the asterik that followed "LBP will be huge" that mentions it was only meant to mean fun factor and not sales figures. My bad. It's not like we're on a sales site where these things could be misconstrued that way.
However, I know enough to give a quick check, and lo and behold, you have used it in a way to describe sales before. I bring you to October 19th. The thread is called "LBP v Wii Music The Creative Wars. It's in the Sales Discussion. Everyone was asked which would sell more. Your answer was...
"LBP is HUGE
Therefore, it will sell more."
Any questions?
I agree with the OP. LBP will never be given the credit it deserves.
LBP's (95% and 1.29 million) direct competitor is Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.
Banjo is at 79% on metacritic and has sold 360k.
Don't forget LBP is full price and Banjo was released at
$40 plus a pack in copy of the original Banjo.
Which one is a success?
Thanks for the input, Jeff.
I think LBP is a success, just not a HUGE success as a lot of people (including Sony) was expecting. I just hope that more people will give them the oportunity it deserves.
Ok, the POLL.
How much LBP must sell to be a success???
Say the number people. :)
Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...
2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.
1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.
PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far
The game is a sales and critical success yes. No one should argue that.
However, I think a lot of Sony Fanboys expected this game to be a 'system seller' and bring in a whole new demographic to the system. At it's current (bundled) sales pace there little to no indication that this is the case. It's a great game for PS3 owners and I hope more support it.
It is generating interest outside of normal PS3 demographics - my daughter wants it - but the $399 price of admission for one great game for those demographics is still exceptionally poor value (in their estimations, for example, my ex isn't never going to buy a PS3 so my daughter can play one game and no she doesn't have HD either)

Yeah but anyone who takes crazzrman seriously and actually tries to quote him and use it as proof something didn't live up to expectations just makes themselves look like idiots. |
No one takes Crazzyman serious for the most part. He was just an obvious example to exemplify why their such a PS3 backlash. A lot of these blow ups are caused by Sony's own fans. I'm not saying Sony is the only company with out of hand fanboys but it seems to be more prominent. Take LBP for example, fanboys went overboard with the hype. You can't put that on Sony. LBP selling as well as Sony expected.
