^^ Now that was just a little uncalled for really. Believe it or not, ole' Georgy-boy really isn't the root of everyone's problems, I know it's hard to believe, but sometimes when we make a mistake, it's actually our own fault (imagine that!)

Well, some of the worst and ill ended speculations wouldn't have been possible without the excessive deregulation, crisis and bankrupcy struck less banks and other financial operators where they are regulated in a more stringent way.

Oh, no, I agree with that. But everyone forgets that a president doesn't pass legislation.. he signs off on it.
Deregulation started during the Clinton administation and has continued in this one. So is it Clinton's fault too?
No. People give our presidents way too much credit and critisism really. People should spew just a hair more anger at the House and Senate. They are the ones who passed the articles of deregulation, and that means that both Democrats and Republicans are equally at blame. Regardless of which group passed the bills, the other party that took over had just as much an opportunity to correct the problems.
The problem is that no one did... both parties seeked deregulation, and they got it.
And if Bush really is some "evil mastermind" than something just isn't clicking here... because the media has been screaming for years that he has an IQ of 50. So if he's so dumb, then how the hell did he pull such an amazing "evil plan" off?
It's just politics people, and both parties are to blame. Accept it, and work together to correct it. Or, waste your time blaming each other and we'll just sink into a worse economy.

| madskillz said: I am calling BS on this article and the rumor. So, MS is rumored to cut 10K? With news that huge in the world of business, we'd see something on Bloomberg, CNN.com or other financial sites. Guess what? Nada - nothing. It's funny that NO major networks, newspapers and media outlets have picked up on it. Nice bait-n-switch, Spartan. What was your reason to even post this POC? The PS3 bots kill me. What I find funny is how GeBX could post real news - from legit media sources - and someone is gonna pass off a blog as a rumor. Here's the real news - Sony IS cutting 16,000 workers total. That was plastered all over the news. Not just on blogs, but newspapers and networks. This? MS laying off 10,000? Nice joke thread./sarcasm Just more cherry-picked propaganda to make Sony PS3 bots feel great about their superior investment. Sony's woes aren't going away any time soon. Thread = PHAIL. |
A couple of months ago, I would have said that, but after the MS price-cut rumour (September) that I didn't believe was true cause no one else but VGC picked it up, I'd give it the benefit of the doubt.
Rumors that get picked up by everyone are usually wrong, and rumors that aren't are usually right, from what I can see.
@Comrade Tovya:
Agree. Obviously Bush, like any other president, is simply the most visible expression of the majority. And here in Italy too each new majority never finds time to abrogate or correct all those things it criticized when it was at the opposition (well, here the stratification of new laws on never abrogated older ones reaches a pathological level that's seen nowhere else in the world, we have a number of laws in force an order of magnitude bigger than almost any other strongly regulated, not common law, country).

I've always gotten a kick out of that too.
Here in the States, it only takes a five dozen drunk senators to pass a law, but an act of God to repeal the law.
In other words, once something become law here, it never gets corrected until a disaster happens. It doesn't even matter if we see the disaster coming... our Congress is like, "well, it may happen at some point, but it hasn't happened yet". Why take care of today what you can put off until tomorrow?
Just like the war in Iraq. Everyone in Congress who opposes the war would like you to believe that they didn't like it from the very beginning (I guess they forget the fact that they voted for it is a matter of public record?)
All politicians are like pinatas really... they dangle there and do nothing until you whack them with something to get them to stop hoarding the goodies and actually do something worthwhile.
