Forums - Sony - Sony to Buy Rockstar

If this is true, expect Rockstars profit to shrink (at least short term) unless Sony pays most of their Dev ocsts that is or not all the games become sony exclusives.

I still believe Sony has a chance when/if blue ray wins the format war.

Are you krazy?

A GTA game on the ps systems exclusive will WILL move hardware easily tripiling sales. Your lucky this is a forum you pissed me off, I would go raging with mad words on you. What rockstar game sold bad on a ps console?

It's not official yet. They just have plans to do so. TheSource brings up a good arugement. But, I guess it wouldn't surprise me. I mean, most of their games were on Sony to begin with. They pretty much got good on their system. Seems fitting. This is probobly to make up for losses. But, buying them isn't going to be cheap. Can this be good for Sony.

Why on earth would anyone discuss such things with journalists in a public area? First of all, that could constitute a crime in itself. These discussions are ALWAYS covered under a NDA. Second, it's doubtful the development team would be involved in such discussions. These matters are usually discussed only at the highest level of management.

In my opinion I think Sony should just buy Take-Two. Then they would also get the Elder Scrolls games. Anyways how did Take-Two lose so much money?

Buying attorneys to fight Jack Thompson.

Far more likely however is that they just don't release enough games, or at least not financially successful ones, to keep steady.

Not a big deal IMO. Come on, all Rockstar has is GTA. I guess Take 2 does have its own sports line 2K games, but that's not even profitable..

Rockstar has only GTA lmao!

Midnight club seried
Grand theft auto series
Bully series

Well, according to Gamefaqs, Rockstar had only 7 games released in 2006, not counting their subsidiaries such as Rockstar Toronto.

By comparison, EA Sports released almost 60 games last year, and that's just EA Sports! Imagine what the rest of EA and their crappy team of movie based game makers were cooking up...

Eragon...

I must not be the only person on these forums that is sick of your usless ranting. Seriously. He is lucky this is a forum or what? You would kick him in the shin? omg.

Just kiss the tip.

I'm surprised Sony didn't do this a while ago, honestly.

It was Rockstar who truly brought the PS2 into its own in the US. Maybe TT needs the money now which is why they're doing this...

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks
