I would like a combat overhaul. The sword techniques in TP were very useful.
As far as story goes, the last thing I want is for Zelda to turn into a "play for ten minutes, watch for ten" interactive movie.

Though I like my Wii and enjoy the controller experience, I don't think the technology found in the Wii controller is capable of doing 1:1 response. It is pretty easy to move your arm/hand faster than the Wii controller can update the screen. I think two things are going to be needed for true 1:1 gameplay: First, more processing power in the Wii itself. Though the unit is technically pretty solid, that's a drastic amount of real-time physics to update and they'll have to be updated with a staggering refresh rate to keep up with a rapidly moving controller. The second is the wireless technology in the Wii controller. I don't believe the inherent lag time will allow for true 1:1 even if the Wii hardware can handle the physics. It will probably take a much higher quality accelerometer/gyroscope to have the precision that is going to be needed for mind boggling 1:1 gameplay control in 3D space. I do believe we will see it in the second generation Wii. The controller has proven the merits of it's design and the 1.0 has exceeded even Nintendo's wildest dreams... |
The tech in the wii-remote is certainly capable of executing those kind of responses. While the tech in the wii might be outdated, the motion-tech in the controller is far more up to date and many who have taken it apart have said that its capabilities have been very underestimated and can easily stand on the shoulders of the sixaxis.

Very earthy, very realistic. Some subjects that would make interesting Zelda games: The Hylian War (prequel to Ocarina of Time) The Great Flood (distant prequel to The Wind Waker) The Imprisoning War Flood's End (distant sequel to The Wind Waker / distant prequel to A Link to the Past) |
Well the overall Story is ok, but after the fourth dungeon, it's just like you go to Hyrule and they tell you were to go next. I'd wish that to be a little more RPGish, you meet somebody and he gives you hints, and you may visit multiple towns.
For your possible subjects, I'd love to play Flood's End. You start in a Wind Waker world and for some reason, the water disappears during the game and you see the actual Hyrule again.
The Problem is that such events are only mentioned to explain the Story of a game and each game creates new events instead of clearing up.
The same goes for the timeline, this is a thing only fanboys are interested in, while developers don't care all that much about it. However, I am a fanboy and I've always wondered about the timeline, so let's try to put it together:
I think it goes:
1. The Legend of Zelda
2. The Adventure of Link (direct sequel)
3. The Ocarina of Time
4. Majora's Mask (direct sequel)
5. The Wind Waker
6. Phantom Hourglass (direct sequel)
7. Twilight Princess
8. A Link to the Past
9. Link's Awakening (direct sequel)
I don't really know where to put Oracle of Ages/Seasons and Minish Cap. Minish Cap could be put almost everywhere after 2, except inbetween 5 and 6. The Oracle games are more difficult, because the Link starring in those games already had adventures before the events in those games happen, so it also is a direct prequel. Because of that, I'd most likely put it at position 3.
What do you think about that timeline? Am I missing something?
As long as the stay FAR away from the Wind Waker art style I'll be happy with what every they give us.
Also bring back Midna!

Yeah could be, but I thought that the thing about the mirror in TP is already the beginning of ALttP's storyline, and Nintendo has stated sometimes that this is the last in the timeline.
I need a new Wii-efied Zelda. I'm sure Nintendo will deliver.
I want Ganondor to be in the game, but not for him to be the boss. We need a new villain--a really cool one. One that can possibly be as awesome as him.
I want a mix of both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
Also, I want to be able to SAVE after beating the game and continue a new one from there with the option of using a different cosume, as it was the case in Wind Waker.
Also, this would be really cool. Nintendo should do to Zelda what they did to the Paper Mario Franchise. In Super Paper Mario (and Paper Mario 2), after you beat the game you can still play and do what ever you like, and here's the cool thing: everbody is aware that you saved the world and have new things to say. It would be really fantastic if I could go back to Hyrule after kicking the shit out of Ganondorf and be praised by all the townfolk for my hard work.
I want all that, and for them to make it even better than Twilight Princess...I hope that's possible!

This was an idea I had for a sequel after playing Twinight Princess:
Back after I had finished Twilight Prince I was talking with one of my friends (who also finished the game) about Twilight Princess and that the only thing that I was disappointed with was the fact that the game didn't connect Wind Waker to the OoT story line. When Nintendo said that Twilight Princess was going to take place between OoT and WW I figured we would find out why Link wasn't there to save Hyrule.
Then I came up with an idea. An idea just so crazy that it just might work. This idea is a work in progress, still has some rough edges.
Nintendo could make a Sequel to Twilight Princess, an actual sequel similar to how MM was a sequel to OoT. We continue on the adventure of this current Link.
The game starts off in a dream sequence where Link is seeing visions of a war torn world, a Dark world, The Twilight Realm. We see Princess Midna on the battle field calling out for Link. Some how Link and Minda are still connected even thou the gateway was destroyed. Some evil being is attacking the Twilight Realm and only Link can help them.
Link goes out on a Quest to find another gateway to the Twilight Realm (this would take up maybe 1/4 or less of game). Once found he finds out that its a one way ticket. And that if he goes he will NOT be able to return. Link cares to much for Midna and decides to go to the Twilight Realm, Never to return to Hyrule.
(So that’s how we write Link out so that Ganondorf can return and there is no Hero of Time to stop him.)
The rest of the game would be classic Zelda format with exploring dungeons and solving puzzles in order to construct some item to be used to destroy some weapon that is tearing apart the Twilight Realm (ya I haven't worked out all the details for the middle of the game)
Through out the game I would have Shadow Link being the main badguy, and not your classic Shadow Link this one is a lot more evil. In the end we find out that some how Ganondorf (in his actual form) made it to the Twilight Realm and he was the one responsible for the attack. Link defeats Ganondorf and he simply disappears. (maybe have him shatter into a million pieces) In the end we see Link and Minda together (no Link riding off or anything) Its a happy ending Link and Midna together, Link actually being kind of forced to settle down for once =P
Link assumes Ganondorf was destroyed and at the end of the game we assume that too, But if you had played WW you would know what really happen.

Is that the case in those games? That is something I always wanted! I hate it so much if you beat the final boss of an RPG or something, and afterwards you can't save, so when you turn on the game for another time you are in front of the boss again.
I remember how this frustrated me in Paper Mario 1, maybe I was not the only one who felt that there is missing something.
Sounds interesting CapAmerica, but you have to remember one thing: There were at least six different Links already, because every game that isn't a direct sequel features a new Link. So there should be a new Link appearing if Hyrule is facing a problem.
But apart that it doesn't really solve the question why there is no Link to save Hyrule and they have to flood it, your idea sounds like a game I'd like to play!
I guess I would like there to be a different enemy as well. I wish they would bring back one of the other Links like for instance the link that went into the Soul Caliber game and then disappear with the Soul Edge. Now that Nintendo is so sought after by third parties I am sure Namco would let them use that sword for nothing. Infact it would be nice if they set Gannon up as the enemy and then at the last of the game let us find out he is only a pawn.
Also I wish I had some hand in Link's developement. Meaning I wish it had some role playing customizable stats. I liked Zelda 2 one was better but I think there were on to something. I think it would be nice just to be able to play a game that could have different experiences everytime you play it.
A link that is stornger in magic than in melee for instance. Or if choice that you make were more dynamic with in the game world.
