i like all of those games.

I hated FVIII with a passion due to the magic drawing system.

However, I'd buy Triple Threat in a heartbeat as an XBLA game. Best minigame of any JRPG outside of FFVII's Condor Mountain.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Everyone in this thread is wrong, AGAIN! Earthbound is > FF4 > CT > FF6 but it's a common mistake. FFVII is a pretty good game don't get me wrong but it's hyped out of proportion "search your feelings you know it to be true"

I still don't get how anyone could forget about the best game of all time Earthbound, though I guess it shouldn't be mentioned in the likes of such lowly RPGs like the FF series with the exceptions of 4 and 6 which barely makes the grade, but maybe shouldn't be tied to one genre of RPG and make it's own called ZOMGWTFBBQAWESOMESAUCE! Which is the genre for best game of all time.

Yeah, Earthbound and now Mother 3 are both absolutely brilliant RPGs, but I was just talking about FF.

If I had to pick my favorite RPGs of all time that list would have to include Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Earthbound, Xenogears, and Secret of Mana. (in no particular order) Man the SNES was the RPG god. There have been good RPGs since then, but it had the ones of legend.

100% Agreed.  Favourite system of all-time.

My top 3 games of all-time in order: Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy IV, Earthbound.

It's all about the game.

@ The_vagabond7

you're awesome. i never played vi but viii is definitely my favorite. Squall is one of my favorite main characters ever and he's transition is epic whereas cloud was a fake who became his real self

VIII>FFX>FFVII>FFXII for the main series FFS I've played.

Pardon me for a failure to pontificate, I think all of these ideas can be expressed in short and I am in a hurry.

The game told you to break those rules, as plain as day. It cannot be faulted because people sticking to tropes in spite of what the game instructed them to do ended up playing it incorrectly. Yes, levels do matter, but equipment matters more, and that is not a bad thing.

I would argue that the abandonment of these ideas is almost always a positive, and that one's expectations being subverted even unfairly is a positive as well, but Final Fantasy XII was not unfair because it told you very plainly what to expect.

However, I think that my original point, which is that Final Fantasy XII is not a grindfest, has been handily proven and even acquiesced, unless you would disagree.

Really?  From the MMO setup I thought it was telling me that Grinding was actually more important then normal.

Grinding was the most fun i had with the game really... that and the Clan hunts.

Really unlocking the Liscense Grid was my favorite aspect of the game.

Also the "You don't know what liscenses you are going to need until you get to the next town" aspect seemed to either encourage grinding or require you to hold on to liscense points until you get there...

which are just burning a hole in your pocket as there are aguement slots to be had!
