Forums - Microsoft Discussion - GTA IV downloadable content is a sure winner for MS

If the DLC was actually the rumored zombie DLC, then I might agree. A dead rising in the world of GTAIV would be first of it's kind and could be outstanding.

The one big thing against the DLC seems that it's more of the same. What percent of 360 owners 100% the game (or at least the main story) and still own a copy? I don't think it's that high. I'm not sure a lot of the people who just bought GTA to screw around are gonna buy the DLC.

Crackdowns DLC was really successful, but that was just more stuff to screw around with.

I believe that there is one aspect that is missing in this discussion.

If Microsoft had not paid for the Downloadable Content, would it have gone solely to the PS3, or would it have been shared custody? If it's the former, it might be a good deal, even if they lose money on it. But if it is the latter, they would have had much more profit if they had not payed $50 million in advance.

I mean, I cannot believe that Microsoft would let anyone sell content on their platform without getting a piece of the action. Most likely 30%. So in that case, MS would have paid for profits they would have recieved anyway. And that might not have been such a smart move.

R*, interestingly, had offered GTA III to be exclusive - and the rest of the games - on the Xbox first - but they knew R* and their frat boy ways and that the game would be - well, violent. They passed - and regretted it. This time, they approached R* - R* laughed and MS suggested the episodes and some $$$. R* listened. GTA IV was NEVER going to be a timed exclusive. It's R*'s golden goose.

why do some people say that everyone think gta IV was disappointing?
