Forums - Sales - Will PS3 eventually pass 360?

I think when HDDVD is "defeated" and only Bluray is the HD disc then i think consumer confusion will leave and more people will buy into Bluray.

End of 2014 Hardware Predictions (03/03/14)

PlayStation 4: 12-15million

Xbox One: 7-10 million

Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)

If and when that happens, HD players will be $100 or less and the PS3 will still be $200 or more, making the PS3's Blu-Ray capabilities irrelevent to most consumers.

The PS3 may have given Blu-Ray a shot in the arm but by the time Blu-Ray is mass market in the eyes of consumers, they'll be looking at the much cheaper stand-alone players and not the PS3.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

without saying that the war of format is not even really started.... so far from over.... when you see the latest DVD sale in HD format.... making as much as all the previous release all together... the war is just on the verge to start... the 2 for 1 blue ray is a plus... but it's 2 for 1 on a so small market compare to normal DVD that it's close to irrelevant....
then it will depends also on retailers... when you see walmart signing for an order of milions of cheap HD stand alone players.. or on the other hand blockbuster saying they'll do only blue ray... netflix saying they go for online DL on demand... etc... I'm still going for online DL on the long run against HD DVD and/or BR

Check your history boys, PS2 was selling much higher this time last year as well so The X360 would have had to sell much higher than PS3 is right now to have outsold it.

I think a lot of people have been turned off of the 360. Remember the Today Show did say not to buy it and the Today Show is watched by how many millions of parents?

The RROD is scaring away customers to the better built Wii and PS3.

There is more bad news about 360, but when i look up articles on the net i do find alot on ps3.

I find articles on how ps3 is already dead and now its just the funeral, so dont get it.

I see articles on how ps3 shoved blueray down peoples throats to win the format war, not to be the better console.

What i mean by all this is is that its not just 360 getting bad news spread around (hardware failure is def bad though)

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

There are about 200 million DVD players sold in the US alone. The PS3 doesn't need to be of interest to a majority of future consumers to be pushed by  potentially improved future Blu-Ray market penetrations.

The PS3 IMO is a lot more interesting in terms of possibilities than just a stand-alone player. Even for non-hardcore gamers, for instance discuss the latest movie trailers with fellow movie enthusiasts in Home, Karaoke with Singstar, wireless music intrument supporting games like RockBand, etc.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

buddy am not here to get grammer check and apparently u took too much grammer enough so that rather than reading my comments u decided to say how badlly written it was WAAAOOOOO ur smart anywayzz BACK TO THE POINT............out of the list of  5games you listed 2 are mutilplatform and one Splinter cell is dated for this year other than that ur right fabel and halo wars...........hmmmmm but i dont think they are killer app........again u might diagree thass fine but i dont think that new gammers who are gonna decide what system they want will be based on those 2 games...........but whatever and my point was that there isnt alot of future games that we know of for 360 ......leading to the point that it does not have a chance against the future ps3 line up and so it will be passed by ps3 by the end of 08...............just so u know for the record i am a 360 owner and ps3 so freankly i dont care what happens but these are the fact.....and i think u partially even agree that there arent any revealed...........well my friend big company use that tactic when they reallly dont know what future hold............anywazz enough said...............i come in peace i go in peace lol..............later "smarter guy"

By putting quotes around smarter guy, I get the feeling you are being sarcastic, just as I was about your question on what you were missing.  In any case, it is clear you will not be using white space, so I will have to manage, somehow.

I haven't seen that Splinter Cell: Conviction has been announced for PS3, but I have seen that it's been delayed until early 2008.  If history is an indicator, it will probably come out on PS3, eventually.  However, the same could be said for MGS4.  I'm not holding my breath, mainly because I'm not a big fan of the series and I also own a PS3, so I could always get it that way.

As for the other four games, Halo Wars, Alan Wake, Too Human and Fable 2 are all being published by Microsoft.  If you define multi-platform as including PC, then you are right.  But in the context of consoles, especially XB360 vs. PS3, I wouldn't include the PC.

Why look forward for games in the future and you don't know if the game developer is going to cann the project...and then the gamer is hurt because of that game....

ps3 doesnt stand a chance to pass the 360 this year.. maybe a year from now.. since GTA will sell more ps3's next year instead of 360's

Please justify this statement. The 360 is offering exclusives context for GTA4, and the console will still cost substantially less. Why would a GTAfan choose the PS3?

GTAIV will sell more PS3 because if they walk into a store and see MGS4 and GTAIV on the shelf for PS3 and GTAIV for X360 they will see 2 MASSIVE franshises on the PS3 and 1 on the X360 so this might sway them to which version they will get.I am not putting Halo3 there because if they wanted a X360 and that game because its been hyped to the extreme they will get one THIS year not NEXT.

I do not understand this logic.

2 AAA titles win over 1 AAA title both releasing in the same time period.

I still doesn't get this logic. Halo3 and Gears says hi...or whatever. The thing is that xbox360 and PS3 will have similar game librarys when GTA4 hits USA. Do you actualy think that any game beside GTA4 will decide were the casual will go? And if it does why would MGS4 be more important than Halo3 a game that has clearly better brand than MGS? I just don't get it I am very sorry.
