 Well if I was a GTA fan, I ain't, which is going to buy a consol because of GTA4 I would go for that one that gave me the most game for the bucks, and that will be xbox360 simply because the extra content. Don't you think microsoft will advertise like hell that they have extra content coming in to GTA4?

About other games, at the release of GTA4 xbox360 will have more exclusive games than PS3 and they will have more games in pre-used or price cut boxes. Something I don't think should be underestimated when it comes to chosing a consol.

Of course all this is speculation and I can be wrong but if I was a diehard GTA4 fan (which I don't think 14 million users are) I would go for the xbox360. If I was a casual gamer that liked GTA last gen I would go for xbox360 because the other games in the library.

Your logic is severely flawed. Look at the DS in the US -- it had a $20 price drop in late 2005. The DS sold at a much faster rate in the US in 2007 than in 2006, despite getting no price drop in that time frame. This is because the game library is getting stronger and stronger and stronger. Hell, for the first half of 2006, the DS sold about 40-50K units/week in North America. It's selling well over twice that now, exactly zero price drops later.

The 360's problem and alarming sales drop-off isn't due to price. It is due to a stagnant library, negative PR and strong competition. As the PS3 gains steam, I believe the 360 will lose steam. And as much as Microsoft wants to deny it, it is in direct competition with the Wii.

Did you guys see the recent statistics? 40% of PS3 owners are aware that it can play Blu Ray discs. 30% of gamers know the 360 can do HD graphics (most likely, a subset of that know what HD graphics are). This suggests that, regardless of what MS says, it is in direct competition with the Wii. To most people, they're both game consoles and that's it. So as the Wii gains momentum, it can also affect the 360.

A console is only as valuable as the games you can play on it plus the features.  The features don't change, but the game library gets better and better and better.  Look at the PS2 now -- it has more games than it did at any point in the past.  To someone who hasn't yet played a PS2, it is more valuable as a gaming device than it has ever been in the past. 

I would just like to point out to all the people who claim that PS3 will outsell 360 in 2008 because of a second price cut in 2008 that once there are no more 60 gig PS3s, the price will be $600 once again. So if there is another price cut it will probably be back to $500 not all the way down to $400

Unless the PS3 finds a means by which maintain a steady lead over the 360 we'll most likely see it come in a third place much like the GC did behind the Xbox. Though I think most people are hopeful the PS3 will outpace the 360 at some point.

Lol, as you can see I'm not Kber81, just someone who was fond of his avatar and since he so rarely graces us with his presence I thought he wouldn't mind me borrowing it. I'm also not anit-PS3, I'm just going on what I've seen in sales.

you guys are talking average rate of 200,000. the ps3 with good advertising/ selling a 40gb ps3 for $399 could easily sell 1.5 million this holiday season alone. Guaranteed ps3 will have atleast 15million by the end of next summer. the only thing that will determine if the ps3 catches the xbox is how well halo 3 sells consoles (so far its looking good for you xbox fans, since xbox is #1 on amazon, who knows how long it will hold up though.)

EDIT: For the PS3 to hit 15 million by the end of next summer it will need to sell 11 million in 12 months (current rate 4 million in 9 months), which means selling at over double the current rate, consistently, for a full year.  Possible, but extremely difficult. 

For me this is obvious ,even if the 360 could retain the lead in NA and keep the PS3 at the current diference between userbases ,even if it could manage to grow that gap ,the fact is that the increase of sales of the PS3 in Europe and Japan ,an increase MS cant hope to achieve ,will more than make up for that .PS3 is outselling the 360 right now ,the christmas will add some 3-4 millions PS3 between NA/Japan and Europe while the 360 could afford maybe 1.5 or 2 between NA and its few foreign sales .And in 2008 when Sony can effectively cut the price of its machine further than the 500 dollar/euros ,when games as MGSIV ,FFFXIII ,Killzone 2 etc are finally released ,then we will see the PS3 catching pace must faster .

Making predictions about how much time the PS3 would spend catching up at the current sales levels isnt accurate .The PS3 has a lot of room for improvement everywhere ,in North America ,in Japan and in Europe .The 360 just cant compete by just being relatively strong in 1 market .PS3 can sell in North America ,it just depends on price and games ,but the 360 cant do the same in Europe and Japan .Most of the 360 best games will be playable on PC ,the same doesnt apply with the PS3 .Those are some reasons why PS3 surpassing the 360 worlwide isnt a question of if but of when .

If everything comes along well for Sony it could equal the 360 worlwide by July 2008 .If they market well the machine ,keep a 499 SKU out there ,drop the price in Japan and Europe for christmas too ,receive MGSIV and GTAIV in time next year ,Home being successful ,Singstar attracting the current fans to the new console (8 million fans of the franchise ),BR dominating HD-DVD  etc etc .If Halo 3 sells a lot of hardware and the 360 does improve its performance the catch up of Sony can be postponed to end of 2008 maybe ,but I have little doubts that 2009 will see Sony ahead of MS worlwide .
