 I was starting to reply by pointing out just how much the PS3 would have to sell to get there (600k per week), and then realized by how ridiculous the post was that it was thickly-laid-on sarcasm.  Surprised it took that long for me to figure it out.

                 With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Yeah but no matter what, by the time of relaunch were talking 200,000 ps3's per week. If the xbox relaunches and the ps3 doesnt, it will get slaughtered (like both consoles are now by the ps2). And im not so sure the standalone players will sell more. Were coming to the point where old mortal combat/sonic/mario players are becoming the main consumers. They wont be afraid like people were 8 years before to research and buy the ps3 as an HD player. I also think 1080p will be standard by then, and this rapid ascension to better graphics every year will slow down. That means blu-ray discs with be adequate for years and years to come so sony wont ahve to change SKU's. Everyone has to admit that the cell processor has atleast 8 years in it.

 But as long as PS3 isn't market as a blu-ray player first people will by the cheaper standalone player. Simply as that.

Id think so


i just think that if i was a new console buyer... or someone upgrading from the ps2 or xbox generation.. early next year would be the perfect time to get a console....if i knew killzone MGS4 GTA IV were coming out so close to each other i would choose to get a ps3... those are potentially 3 blockbuster games.. yes the 360 version of GTA is better than the ps3 version because of the extra content.. but you gotta ask yourselves this question does that really matter in terms of choosing a system to buy?? i dont think it does.. what about you?? Now for me personally i might get the 360 version of GTA.. but just focus on new console buyers and not current ones and think about what i said.. i could mention that the ps3 will probably have another price drop by that time to help sales even more but im not gonna mention something that has not happened yet.. so i ask that anyone else does the same in response to my topic..

PS3 over take X360 next year sometime thats kind of inevitable if all the games slated to sell consoles sell consoles i.e.MGS4,LBP,GT5,Killzone2,FFXIII(possibly in Japan),InFamous,Resistance2(maybe),Motorstorm2(maybe),GTAIV(even though its multiplatform),L.A Noire,EightDays and thats just the exclusives(except GTAIV).

again the same could be said if the xbox seller games also sell games such as mass effect, halo 3, fable 2 (i could go on for a while) but you get the point. Really i see it coming in 2009 we already saw how much of an increase it would have to have for this to take place so if these games really do push it and the xbox games dont at all i can possibly see it at end of 2008 but unlikely unless something else occurs
