Not trying to be a honk, but he lists several reasons why I picked up a ps3. |
Perhaps the article should be renamed to "why the near future will be a great time to buy a PS3." All it talks about is how the future looks for the PS3.
The PS3's currently released lineup is unarguably weak. Sure, it has a lot of games coming out in the near future but so does the 360 and so does the Wii. It seems like almost all bigger-name games look promising before release. The concepts are usually awesome or tested and loved, after all. I think the Wii has the best lineup of games due out in '08.
A good rule of thumb with consoles is to never buy a console for a game that has not yet been released. There were people who bought a PS3 to play GTA 4. Did they think they'd be playing it in 2008 after at least one PS3 price cut, that the 360 would have it as well, and that exclusive content would be coming to the 360 only? I guess they should have just waited until GTA4 was available to buy a console for it, right?
We don't know how games will turn out, whether third party games will end up exclusive or for how long they'll be delayed. Games can be released and disappoint greatly, and if you spent $600 on a machine now worth $500 with 5 free movies for a game that it turns out you don't really want anymore, you have to feel a little burned. Wait until your must have game is released before you buy your console. It makes sense.
Hell, I know people who bought computers to play Duke Nukem Forever on them.
