Forums - Nintendo Discussion - rate of Nintendo employees

They probably hired more warehouse workers to move the Wii's to the stores faster. My main guess is that they are probably hiring more customer service reps because with all the millions of systems sold they probably need more reps due to more customers.

i hope they start hiring some of the poor people that have been layed of the other game development companies.

I thought it would be fun to analyze how the recent success by the Nintendo consoles has impacted the company's number of employees. If maybe the increased income is invested in more employees -> hopefully more and better products in the future!

Year ended March 31, 2006: 3,150 employees
Year ended March 31, 2007: 3,373 employees (+7%)
Year ended March 31, 2008: 3,768 employees (+11%)

My guess is that Nintendo will have about 4200 employees in March 31, 2009.. comments? anyone have older data? :)

Nintendo released financial data for the year ended March 31, 2009 today, and it's time to update my OP analyzing the number of employees at the company.

Year ended March 31, 2006: 3,150 employees
Year ended March 31, 2007: 3,373 employees (+7% YoY)
Year ended March 31, 2008: 3,768 employees (+11% YoY)
Year ended March 31, 2009: 4,130 employees (+10% YoY)

Source: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2009/090507e.pdf

My guess that Nintendo would have 4200 employees by now was almost on target, slightly overprojected. Considering the data so far and by reading Nintendos forward-looking statements, my new estimation for the year ending March 31, 2010 is that the company will have 4500 employees.

The average Nintendo employee gets $80,000 a year.

Nintendo is either number 1 or 2 in the world from a profit per employee standpoint and that was according to 2 years ago. I'm certain they have not fallen from this position.

$5.5 billion / 4,130 = $1.33 million per employee.

Since Nintendo is winning more money than last generation are those guys earning more?

Iwata did say that Shigeru doesn't make much more money than anyone else in the company... granted he refuses to accept anymore pay.

I doubt Iwata is pocketing much either, the key benefactors in capital are probably top share holders.

Hiroshi Yamauchi owns a 10% share of Nintendo which made him the richest man in Japan back in 2008. He currently ranks 3rd in Japan this year and 149th world wide.

But even he's not considered greedy because he refuses to accept the money from Nintendo's executive retirement pensions stating they should use the funds for R&D instead.

Does anyone else remember the Nintendo street squad?
