Probably they are going from 128*128 to 512*512 ¬¬

probably. i saw the trailer for the game (the gameplay one) and it looks like it could be put on the 360. no offense to the 360 owners, but playstatipn 3 takes pride in its renown graphics and physics... so how come one of their most popular games from the previous generation isnt going to be the best?

Don't worry, when it's shown again your jaw will most likely drop. I mean jaffe himself said that this wasn't what they had shown him, and what they had shown him was.. quote "Fucking awesome" and "Like a living painting"

I'm expecting to be blown away. But in either case, what we did see was ingame, and animation wise it can't be denied that it looks fucking sick :P

regarding your other post it says in the top it's 4 times the resolution of previous god of war games. Now god of war games have always looked awesome. Textures were really good. Even comparable with some current gen games... that's why i say that it'll be enough :P and probably more than enough.. most likely awesome. What we saw was probably a unpolished build. These guys help GG polish up killzone 2.

oh yeah and you have to concider when this game is coming out (3 years into the ps3s lifespan) as compaired to when the old god of war games came out for the ps2 (5-7 years in the life span.. big difference)

Jaffe talks a lot of shit, including well yeah your momma just sucked me off so you are wrong bitch kind of posts whenever someone doesnt agree with him.

Not the smartest nor the most diplomatic company shill out there to be frank.

God of War 3 will use a custom game engine that delivers four times the texture resolution of its predecessor.

So, basicly Sony just announced it's a 720p game.

480p = 480*640 = 307k pixels

720p = 720x1280 = 921k pixels

Though according to my math, it only uses 3 times as many.

So.... didn't you just pawn yourself here????

4 ≈ One

So the game has decent-size texture maps. Big effin' whoop.

Show me actual gameplay for more than a few seconds and then we'll talk.

"if any of you've played god of war you'll know that it's some of the best textures ever to be found on the ps2 system. So 4 times that should be pretty neat."

But this is supposed to be the PS3.

Doesn't matter.

Take this

Add a bunch of effects and polygons.. and voila, you have a current gen game.

Yes, it does. That game used a lot of tricks to achieve its graphics. And the comment referred to texture resolution, not effects and polygons, so you aren't even addressing the actual point here.

The PS3 should be able to take any PS2 game, and quadruple the texture resolution in its sleep. That's the point here, which is why we aren't impressed by that comment.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

first of all what i meant with it was that the textures are good enough for a current gen game. Only thing it would need would be higher polygon models and more effects (bump/normal maps, specular.. bloom maybe)

Secondly by quadrupling it you are putting 16 times the load on the machine as quadrupling it is actually having 16 times the pixels.

Check out my game about moles ^

I wasn't denying the game looked good. I just meant that in terms of trying to wow us with a number, either 4 or 16 times the texture resolution is not going to cut it. The PS3 has a lot more video RAM (even taking into account that EDRAM goes further for its size than standard RAM types), and it has texture compression. Thus that kind of advancement in the texture should be expected for the PS3.

in another post i wrote that i hope they take this last year or two to polish the graphics. im not saying its gonna be bad graphics, just average- some people seem to already be blowing it out of proportion so i guess i might as well too

I hope this game turns out wonderful.

God Of War 2 set a new standard last gen , certain that 3 will do the same.
