My glorious laptop, that I received as a high school graduation present in May 2004:

CPU: Pentium 4, 2,7Ghz
RAM: 512MB
Graphics card: Some integrated piece of shit that's probably made of wood, and won't run the Orange Box.
Hard drive: 40GB (just bought a nice little 500GB external ^^)
OS: XP
Notable faults: Screen has occasional connection issues, and needs to be yanked up and down in a manner resembling masturbation. Battery is totally dead, and removing the recharge cable results in immediate shutdown. Really should get that thing removed. Permanent coloration of grey plastic around where my wrists rest while I type. I also think I busted one of the USB ports by accidently poking my speaker cable in there, but there's at least 4 left, so I don't mind. =P

Sorta looking forward to getting a new desk top sometime later this year.

I just put it together last summer/fall. It's connected to my Mitsubishi 32" HDTV(1080i) and Pioneer 5.1 Surround Sound System. Mouse: Still using my "old" Razer Diamondback Plasma w/Razer Exactmat

Processor: Core 2 Quad Q6600 (@3ghz)
Graphics Card: 256MB Geforce 8600 GT (haven't been into pc gaming for awhile, will upgrade it sometime...)
Memory: 2x1gb OCZ DDR2 (forgot what?) Also have 2x1gb Ballistix Tracer DDR2, but one stick is messed up, need to get a replacement.
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS4 (P35 chipset ;p )
Hard Drive: 2x74gb Maxtor Atlas 15KII 15Krpm, 1x36gb Maxtor Atlas 15KII 15Krpm, 1x500gb Maxtor 7.2Krpm, 1x320gb Maxtor 7.2Krpm

OS: WinXP Pro 2

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

Processor: Pentum IV 3.0 GHz
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X800GTO
Memory: 1GB
Motherboard: Asus (can´t remember the model)
Operating System: Windows XP

Processor: Core 2 Extreme Quad QX6700
Graphics Card: Sli Nvidia 8800 GTX (one overclocked)
Memory: 4 gb ddr2 800
Motherboard: nForce 680i SLI 775 Black Pearl
Operating System: Windows Vista Ultimate
hard drive 300 gb at 10000 rpm and 750 gb at 7200 rpm

Water Cooling

Cost $ 7000

I think he may be lying, I'm no expert on SLI, but to my knowledge both cards have to run at the same speed, therefore you cannot overclock just one. And his cost is all messed up. That system could easily be built for $3000.

Anyways, here's my specs, kickin' it oldschool:

Dell Dimension E510
Pentium D 940 (3.2Ghz 4MB cache)
2GB DDR2 533Mhz
XFX Nividia 7900GS XXX
X-fi Xtreme Music Sound Card
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-Rom & 16x DVD-R/RW
3.5" Floppy Drive (Oh yeah baby!)
Accesories
Dell 20" Ultrasharp
Dell Wireless Mouse & Keyboard
Logitech Z-5500 505watt 5.1 Surround Sound
Logitech G25 Race Wheel

Picked her up back in July '06 for $1200, and then bought the new GPU, Speakers, and Wheel for about $600.

She's starting to feel the age, but she'll still run most games at high settings.

Update:
Confirmed building that system will the most expensive parts would cost $5000
Using the cheapest parts it would cost just about $4000.
From Alienware most expensive would cost $6300 for a faster system, and $5400 for a matching system.

I find it funny someone would lie about their computer

Processor: AMD Turion X2 TL-60 @ 2.00GHz
Graphics Card: ATI somethingortheother 256MB
Memory: 2.00GB DDR2 @700MHz
Moniter: Integrated 15.4'' widecreen w/1368px resolution
Motherboard: No idea
Hard drive: Hitachi 120GB @5400rpm
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium (the only problems I've had are related to shutting down successfully and random crashing. Reminds me of the Windows 95 days...)
Also, as you may have figured out by the processor, this is a laptop

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Finished building my new rig today!

  • Intel Core2 Quad 6600
  • Intel DQ35JO
  • 4 GB (2X2) 1000 MHz DD2
  • Nvidia 8800GT 512MB
  • Hitachi 500 GB HDD w/16MB Cache
  • Cheap Optical Drive, card reader, exhaust fan,
  • Gigabyte Aurora Case (Black w/ Side View and not using the plexi).
Not the best gaming computer in the world, but everything for less than $1200

(Plenty of room for expansion when I add in a couple 10kRPM HDD in RAID 0 and a BluRay/HD-DVD Drive; I will probably get a new motherboard in 12-24 months and a couple 9800's)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

@Username2324: Oh and to be fair to fnl164 when they first came out the Extremes were more at some retailers, 8800s have dropped a lot, and if he had his water cooling locally installed he might have been ripped off. (But I still think he's lying)...

Oh and if you add up mine it may seem too low, I got a bunch of the parts from a CompUSA going out of business sale. Of course mine is nothing to brag about, but it is nice.
