psn was definitely closing the gap rapidly before nxe was released, now live has leapfrogged it again. Both systems are great but live has the upper hand yet again.
Home is already becoming a 3D enviornment for pervs to virtually hump each other, and not its not easier than LIVE....LIVE, you start a party and invite friends on your friends list while PSN has seperate friends lists for games, and PSN is just way to divided over the whole interface while XBL is very well integrated into the whole Xbox 360 expirience.
PREDICTIONS:
360 will outsell PS3 YTD for 2008. (CHECK!)
360 will have the best showing at E3 & TGS in 2009
2009 will be another year for the 360 over PS3
End OF 2009 SALES :: 360 - 40M; PS3 - 30M; Wii - 70M

Also, on LIVE, you can also see in-game who's playing what (ex. In 'Gears 2,' I was online and saw Montana on there. Didn't wanna disturb him and I had to finish it for my review). Even the old LIVE was cool, but just watch - a few more updates and NXE will have a super lobby where you can meet, chill and play games. Something like HOME but integrated into LIVE and the Xbox blades. I am just speculating, but I definitely see MS going down this road.

I've only looked up science based information, and it's always been spot on. As for everything else idk.
Edit- Some of my professors allow us to use wiki, some don't.
@OP- Idk, I use my PC for all my online needs.
all i know is,i will never get xbox live gold again.complete waste of money.(i dont care too much about the videos and demos really)When i buy a game,i want to play it online and not worry about anything else.i already paid 60 bucks(for one game) and hundreds on the console itself.i refuse,ill take my silver thanks.
I own both too and would have to agree with the OP. Yes, IMHO the PSN is now better then XBL.

These comments are seriously doing me head in.
HOME SAYS IT'S A GAME.
The first thing it says is "This game uses the HDD blah blah".
So there's your answer. Home say's it's a game!!!!!!!!!!
XBL is probably still better, though not significantly, while PSN, on the other hand, offers more value for the money.
