If PSN is to become better than Live it must be unique and being free just isn't enough atm.

Thats the point. Sony may be great at name value, but has yet to have a true online base and understanding of online like Microsoft. PS3 fans hate to give Microsoft at least that.

No matter how good the PSN gets, everyone will always say XBL.

I, however, say that, with the addition of home, PSN wins easily. Especially once it gets going - when namco arcade hits NA and EU (you can already get Pacman, dig dug and a couple of other titles from the Japan version) it should really push forward!

 What is home?

Its just an over complicated and tedious way of making a party. Its is sonys worst idea this gen bar none.

PSN is headed in the right direction but it is not because of home.(XBL is still better though)

The J man never thought he would say this (but says it with confidence) even nxe is more useful and better than home because it actually adds something.

 They take god knows how long for this and it still is a complete failure.

Critics are ripping this apart and people who used it (the J man included) absolutely hate it so how does it make psn far better than xbl

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

@twestern:

"A 'beta version' is the first version released outside the organization or community that develops the software, for the purpose of evaluation or real-world black/grey-box testing. The process of delivering a beta version to the users is called beta release. Beta level software generally includes all features, but may also include known issues and bugs of a less serious variety."

From wikipedia.

And who said that home was a game? It's not a game just an online service. nothing less, nothing more.

lol for trying to prove someone wrong using the wiki.  That couldn't be more wrong.

@Twesterm

thats just it, its not a MENU, its completely OPTIONAL, its not the USER INTERFACE.

Its not a game either, its bsaed on the COMMUNITY, about the content that I agree on, but again its in its BETA stage.

I just don't get why people are so quick to defend Home.  They keep telling me it's free and it's an open beta like that means something except the thing has been in development for nearly four years when most games get made in 2-3 and in its current state I don't see how anyone would pay for it (and that last part isn't even my words, they're Tycho's.

The people who continue to sit there and yell OMG IT'S A BETA are the same people that have been patiently waiting since 2007 for Home to revolutionize the gaming world.  They keep expecting it to be this brand new community experience that will change the way we play and interact with games and it just isn't.

I'm sorry if my stating these things is offensive to you, but Home is a lifeless world that just isn't good.  It has a few things that can entertain most people for a few minutes but that isn't much to be proud of.

But whatever, I'll shutup about Home for a while so more people don't get angry that their precious Home is being spat on.

-edit-

Did forget to mention-- I realize that it's completely optional or else I would be incredibly pissed about it.  I'm rumbling about it now but I'll lose interest in a day or so.  If I had to go through Home always, I'd never stop grumbling about it.

-edit #2-

One more edit and I'll leave for a good while, I swear.

I also only comment on Home because I wasted some time on it and I can.  Before it was released, I suspected that it just wouldn't be good but people would always come back with (including you I think Leo) I'm in the open beta, you have no idea what you're talking about.  Just wait, Home is awesome.

Well now I've experienced and now I'm going to talk about it.

I love that I can have online FPS parties in seperate rooms with four people per console split screened if I wanted to. :)

its easier to use

Twesterm I defend home because I enjoy it, I have fun with my friends in Home, we joke around and its fun, and we play the saucer game in the middle of the Home and its fun, we talk to other PSN users and its fun, thats it, thats why I defended Home because I enjoy it. If it sucked I would say it sucked, maybe you just need to get some friends, because its obvious you have none on PSN(no offense).

Yeah sure, who should I trust? Wikipedia or twersterm?
