The Rpg that made the greatest impact in me has got to be Diablo. At that time, RPG's for me where mostly turn based with huge open worlds, but with a very few selection of items and few strategy in them. When Diablo came, and gave us that point and click action-rpg feeling, i was blown away. You've had a level of control on your character that was completely new to me, and also it had a massive library of items and combination of items so you could deeply personalize each of your characters. Also the random quest generator was a new one for me, i was so used to go from point A, get item/magic/summon/key item or kill monster, but diablo changed that, with innovative quests suchs as clearing the town's water supply, or do the trials for the Arkaine's Valor armour =) Plus the diablo battle was fun as hell! no pun intended XD

See i really like Diablo as a game, and i have spent a lot of hourse playing 1&2, but i really personally dont consider to be a RPG, it's more of a action hack and slash game with RPG elements (that only my personal opinion), there is some sort of story, but there are no side quests ,  nothing it's just running around and dealing with hordes of monsters (which is incredibly fun). I Really wish they would release some sort of RPG (something like Neverwinter Nights 2/ Fable) based on Diablo Universe because the story (Very basic) is great and has tremendous potential.

I think WRPG that had most impact on me are Fallout 1 and Baldur's Gate, they came out when i was around 10 and they still are one of the best games i ever played, big worlds, filled with life with dozens of quests, monsters, and epic enemies. With great stories and characters.

@ROBOTECHHEAVEN: I have played IV, I and II. Haven't got arround to playing III yet. II is my favorite of the Bof series, but unless you have a lot of patience, I don't recomend playing the first.

Quem disse que a boca é tua?

Qual é, Dadinho...?

Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

@luisgvm , nice selection that game was such a great game. the battle system i loved very much, cause u had to pay attention. the cgi scenes were very well done, just a very well made game. its such a crime that sony never made a sequel to legend of dragoon, i would certainly buy it. :)

Yeah Lolcislaw, the story in the games is very basic, but it has a rich lore, i remember when i bought D2, it came with a 200 page manual which 75 of them were the history and lore of the world of Sanctuary ;) I understand your opinion, most people don't consider Diablo as an RPG, i myself think it fits the RPG genre just fine, because you trully get to play a role that you define with your character ;)

i hope they make a sequel thats my only wish this gen. there was rumours about lod2 but then again it was in vgtilt......

Diablo II is a drug.

I swear I used to play that game then like people play WoW today. 2 straight years of everyday play, 6+ hours a day. If any of you played long enough into Ladder season 2 or 3 I even had myself a perfect Ethereal Death Cleaver, which was beyond awesome in PVP.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Euphoria14, i had myself an Ethereal Berseker's Axe with BoTD runeword =D i would easily do 6K-9K damage with my Zealadin with a lvl 20 fanaticism aura. Ahhh those where the times =)

breath of fire I was my favorite one, it jsut seemed like a bigger more epic experience than #2, dragon quarter is also a great game if you can get pass the annoying saving system
