The Rpg that made the greatest impact in me has got to be Diablo. At that time, RPG's for me where mostly turn based with huge open worlds, but with a very few selection of items and few strategy in them. When Diablo came, and gave us that point and click action-rpg feeling, i was blown away. You've had a level of control on your character that was completely new to me, and also it had a massive library of items and combination of items so you could deeply personalize each of your characters. Also the random quest generator was a new one for me, i was so used to go from point A, get item/magic/summon/key item or kill monster, but diablo changed that, with innovative quests suchs as clearing the town's water supply, or do the trials for the Arkaine's Valor armour =) Plus the diablo battle was fun as hell! no pun intended XD

See i really like Diablo as a game, and i have spent a lot of hourse playing 1&2, but i really personally dont consider to be a RPG, it's more of a action hack and slash game with RPG elements (that only my personal opinion), there is some sort of story, but there are no side quests ,  nothing it's just running around and dealing with hordes of monsters (which is incredibly fun). I Really wish they would release some sort of RPG (something like Neverwinter Nights 2/ Fable) based on Diablo Universe because the story (Very basic) is great and has tremendous potential.

I think WRPG that had most impact on me are Fallout 1 and Baldur's Gate, they came out when i was around 10 and they still are one of the best games i ever played, big worlds, filled with life with dozens of quests, monsters, and epic enemies. With great stories and characters.
