I still think LBP will end up over 3mil LTD. Sure its taking its time, but its the end result that matters!

658 people (and the biggest % of participant) though that LBP would sell more than Gears 2, Wii music and Animal Crossing.

Now, either these people all though that these three titles would bomb or, a more likely explanation, they though it would reach upward to 5 millions in sale.

Well LBP is defintely not the biggest title for Sony as they had hoped but it definitely is not a flop.  There were high expectations from both Sony and fans and it appears that it has not contributed to any significant number of PS3 sales (ie November 2007 > 2008 sales).   Only time will tell if it will have legs.

Sony hyped this game beyond belief as did their legions of fanboys.  Months and even years before it was released, the game was repeatedly & almost endlessly touted as "system seller" by the Sony elite at CES and E3 conferences.  Littlebigplanet was forced upon the public by the Sony PR Czars.  In every interview regardless of relevance, they would mention "littlebigplanet" and how would outsell GT5 Prologue and shift hardware.   Well my friends the day of reckoning is upon us and the results are clear.  Highly rated game, HUGE Marketing push & average sales.  However, it was an expectatins flop because Sony tried to convince us it would be the second coming.

that's good... in line with realistic ideas... however Sony had very high hopes for this game and it kind of let them down... personally this game probably deserves to get at least 2 million by the end of the year

I remember seeing the LBP adverts in the UK. I asked my wife what she thought of the advert and all she could say is dunno what is it.

So for something aiming at the casual market I think it struggles to get its message across. Also I honestly do not think this game is casual, the whole level design thing to me smacks of hard core and hence why I think it has not done as well as maybe some folks may of hoped.
