Game– noun

1.

an amusement or pastime

In flower you collect orbs to bring life back to the land around you. The player controls a shower of petals and has a clearly defined objective.

Tech Demo

- Is a prototype, rough example or an otherwise incomplete version of a product, put together with the primary purpose of showcasing the idea.

What looks rough or incomplete about this product?

I can understand why some gamers said Super'Rub'A'Dub was a tech demo, because that's what it was built from.

This game however was built not to showcase the power of the PS3, but to advance the 'zen gaming experience' thisgamecompany began with FlOw.

This looks kinda neat.. but also very boring?

Who would play this?

Me.  Sure I like online MP, frenetic games, etc. as much as anyone - but I also like chilling out with something like this too.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

an amusement or pastime

Exactly I don't see anything amusing in there. You fly around collecting orbs. Great.

Besides I have found the following IMO much better definition for "game"

A contest, physical or mental, according to certain rules, for amusement, recreation, or for winning a stake

This is no contest and no game. I don't know how to call it. Electronic zen? But I hate the whole Blue Ocean thing. If they would put their resources into making the next God of War (not this specific game but the next franchise of such quality) they would be better off.

Africa, Flower, Flow uargs.

Pacman anyone? DL games (and classic games) are typically simple and straight forward.

Look at tetris, superstardust HD, pixeljunk eden, etc.

They all focus on one objective in mind, whether it's to kill everything, reach a point or stack blocks. Collecting orbs is no exception, it doesn't mean that it's not a game. You'd have an argument with linger in the shadow though.

Ah, I might have to get this like I did Flow.
