VII is possible, but VIII seems unlikely since it's barely four years old. If they happen, there's always the strong possibility that they stay in Japan.

With that being said, I would love a DQVII remake, and I'd play it all over again if we were to get it.

My guess is that they won't deviate from the norm for the main series games anymore. They tried to with IX and that resulted in mass hatred and hasty changes.

I wouldn't be suprised if they release a spinoff series as an action-rpg though. 

 

To the bolded, that would be cool, and I hope the wiimote is incorporated well into the game, but I seriously hope (like I do with Punch Out!) that there is a classic controller/classic control style option.

Why? The DS DQ remakes have come over/coming over...why would a DQ remake on the Wii not come? It would be a good way to build up a Western fanbase in anticipation of DQ X.

 

V and VI were never relesed here in the first place, so the remakes will be the first time we get to play these games, and IV was remade for NA/Eur after 16 years. VII and VIII were released here, and fairly recently.

 

Maybe I should have left our "strong", but there definitely is a possiblity.

i know that im late to the party,, but this is the second Megaton letdown for me this year (first FFXIII on 360 and now DQX on Wii), i mean DQVIII is my best game on the PS2, and i was hugely depressed when i heard that DQIX was going to a handheld (i own a DS people, i'm not biased), i want to enjoy the next DQ on a TV!!!! so i always hoped that DQX will return on Consoles, especially HD consoles, ESPECIALLY PS3!!!!

But then, it was announced that DQX will be on wii, although that DQIX is not out yet,,,, (how can someone announce a sequel to a not yet released game ???),,, SE are becoming weirder and weirder

its a great announcement for wii owners, and they deserve quality third party games,, but it's a sad announcement for DQ fans like me,,,, i always dreamed of playing a DQ in HD, especially if Level 5 is the developpers,, but now we will be getting a game with the same graphics as number 8 which is 3-4 years old,,, sad :(

Well graphics are not that important in JRPG's, but i think DQ X will look significantly better then VIII because Wii is much more powerful then the PS2 so improvement will be there. If you want to enjoy JRPG's then i suggest get a Wii in the future (maybe when they cut the price?)  because there are plenty of Rpg's coming to the Wii in 2009 and this will continue.
