I can't wait to get a hold of this game. Even though the FE formula hasn't changed one bit, I have never complained for more of the same perfection that it has offered.

I feel cheated though for paying full price for it. Exactly same gameplay for 20 years and nearly the same graphics since the SNES... Developing costs are very very low and an  indy programmer & artist could very well make the same FE games on handhelds and better these days. The console 3D offering is also poor compared to what can be done.

that graphics are far from nearly the same o.o

ya, the formula is the same... but, I havn't complained about it once yet either.

Thanks for the help I have physics, fortify and mend to heal with. The main problem is the enemys with bolting as they target Eliwood. My strongest characters are pent, marcus, athos, oswin, jaffar, hawkeye and kent. Unluckily for me of those characters only athos, pent, oswin and hawkeye have weapons that can harm the dragon. I think my strategy will be to use the characters that can't damage the dragon as fodder to take the brunt of the attack and allow my best characters to attack multiple times without having to rescue them. I'll also try and move eliwood out of range of the enemy's bolting attack so as not to worry about him, he's only level 5 with 30 hp :(

Also does silence ever work on the dragon?

@bengabenga

I actually have alot of strong characters the problem is my three main characters eliwood, lyne and hector are weaklings cause I never bothered to use them, figured why risk them dying and having to start over. It never occured to me my entire game may depend on them being powerfull :|

edit: I forgot to ask what attack you use on the dragon with Athos? I'm using Aureola, is there any better attack I could be using?

The definitive evidence that video games turn people into mass murderers

Characters so far:

I really like:
Marth, Frey, Abel, Draug, Shiida, Ogma, Merric and Barst.

The reinforcements in chapter 5 basically all suck. I'll give Vyland, Sedgar and Hardin some time though. Overall I feel that I get way too much mounted units.

There is really too much units that you earn early. I hardly feel any connection to them due to that. That's also caused by the fact that so many units are the same class. Chapter 2 gives you 3 Fighters which are about equal. And in chapter 5 you get 5 mounted units. Really makes it hard making choices.

(and I still regret sending Cain away in the prologue though...)

This is so unfair :(

Amazon does for some odd reason refuse to send this game to Norway. I can't figure out why - normally all games that are from Amazon registred senders can send to Norway (others can't). This game is by a registred amazon thingy (Amazon itself), but it won't come.

The game is also impossible to find in Norway, as retailers here generally only take in titles that sell a lot.

So I'm replaying FE7 right now. That game is actually insanely easy in some parts. I'm trying to do Lyn's part with only Lyn + Serra + Erk.

Is anyone doing the Gaiden playthrough? I wonder how people did it. Simply letting characters die on the battlefield?

I have already done it. I killed units instead of recruiting them and sacrificed characters I didn't need on the battlefield in the chapter they joined. The stupid thing about this game is that the game automatically gives you noname units at the start of a new chapter if your total number of units is below the number of units you can use in said chapter.

The four Gaiden chapters which require you to have 15 units or less are nothing special, the fifth and last one can be entered if you didn't fulfill certain requirements to obtain the Falchion and/or haven't recruited a certain character. You'll get a weaker version of the Falchion at the end of this Gaiden chapter.

So basically it's not worth it to play any of the Gaiden chapters. The only use I can see in them is to make the highest difficulty settings easier by getting the additional EXP from these chapters. Then again this requires you to let some of your characters die and one of the most satisfying accomplishments in Fire Emblem is to beat the hardest setting with all characters recruited and alive.

Finished hard ***** already? Wow, you truely are a gaming god, mr. Top 10 F-Zero!

Please tell me that the story will get better in the 2nd half of the game. I'm completely underwhelmed by the lack of deep conversations between the characters, something that was so awesome in the previous ones. It's really like: battle - mr. councellor tells you "hey let's go here"' - ok, battle.

Oh and why for ^%#* sake does my character sometimes gets killed if I use the devil's axe? Can't recall that ever happening before.

Oh last rant: Please tell me Bantu gets better. What a waste. He's not even strong and has terrible EXP gain. Really a shame, cause the character is awesome.

Edit: aside from this I really having tons of fun with the game btw.

im getting that epic game on Christmas (maybe a bit earlier, cant wait) i finished semester so finally i have a chance to play some games.

WHAT!? Where's the American release?

My thoughts exactly. I'm wondering why isn't it here yet.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I´m also at the end of H1, chapter 20. I don´t play it that often, it´s not hard really. I´ll do H3 afterwards and kill all but my best units for the gaiden chapters.

Devil Weapons attack your unit depending on your luck, the higher your luck the less chances are you´ll get damaged by a devil weapon.

Anyone has an overpowered Shiida? She maxed out speed and luck very quickly and then started to get str boosts more easily.

A combo Sedgar, Wolf as generals would make even H5 much easier. They have tremendously high growth rates. Immediately reclassing them to General/Heroes is the best thing to do, imo.
