Yeah, I get the whole relative thing, I just don't think I need to move slower than most games with regular human characters :(

The vehicles are too slow at that point ><

Not to hype up another game, because I'm not really here for that, but warhawk. You start on one end of the map, and start running, you'll end up on the other side in a good 7-10 minutes o.O; the maps are enormous. But you hop in a warhawk, and hit your turbos, you can get there in less than 30 seconds. It feels so fast, you feel like your in control of something seriously awesome :P Halo just feels so "mellowed down" for all ages :/ I mean I understand why it is, it's one of the contributing reason's it's so popular. It needs to be playable, and fun, for all ages and groups. But to me, that's what makes it so boring. There's nothing to really pick up on, nothing to really master. Aside from regular FPS stuff :x Head shot's with snipers, etc etc etc. It's entirely too generic for my tastes, and I would personally HATE if Killzone aspired for that.

Well, only Halo's standard settings can, by any stretch of the imagination, be called generic. Don't like the settings? You can make a new game setting and up the move speed. Via the forge you can change the game to be far more versatile than most any FPS out there.

Farcry 2 says hello! in regards to your "far more versatile than most any FPS out here".  And as far as game modes, Gears 2 would like to have a word with you.

No, I would never call Killlzone 2 a "Halo killer", that would be foolish. If I ever did say something like that, I wouldn't mean literally. But I swear, I see more Microsoft fans bring up this "Halo killer" crap than Sony fans.

your Far Cry 2 point is alright but your Gears 2 modes comparison is terrible.  Halo has litteraly over 40 different modes and playlists.  In fact even without changing anything on maps there is probably about 50 or 60 game modes.  Gears 2 has like 10 or less i think?

My question is: why do we need a Halo killer? Halo is a very successful franchise, why should WE, as gamers, want an extremely successful franchise to be "shown up", or "out done". Killzone 2 looks to possibly be my favorite shooter this year next to F.E.A.R. 2. However,I wouldn't want either of them to be Halo killers because I like the evolution of franchises, not the destruction of franchises and even though Killzone 2 may visually look better than Halo, and that's all opinion, I'd never want the game to kill Halo. Games like Halo, Mario, Gran Turismo, Gears, Final Fantasy, Zelda etc, etc keep the market alive. They keep the consumer truly ecstatic for inevitable sequels...so I ask again: why would we want there to be a "Halo killer"? My answer: who cares, Halo speaks for itself. A franchise that sells 8-9mill copies aint going anywhere, and that is a good thing!

That was trully and incredible post.  Intelligant, well though out.  Bravo, Bravo

I counted 8 game modes (multiplayer) in regards to Gears 2.  I counted 10 (plus the Forge stuff) in Halo 3, googling.   The word FAR more is pushing it in regards to his.  Forge is great, but Gears 2 has enough in comparison.  And is able to be played single player and offline.  In the case of Halo 3, it is either play online against oher people or trade it in.   I traded in Halo 3 after beating it.  I still have Gears 2, due to the bots.

My take on Halo 3 is that is one of the most hyped FPS's in history.  It is a competent title, and the Halo series deserves praise.  However, it isn't all that and then some.  I believe Gears 2 replaces Halo 3 on the quality front.  Gears 2 is superior to Halo 3 in just about every way.  I also consider Gears 2 should be the XBox's flagship 3D shooter title, replacing Halo.  Halo is still the top NAME, but as far as 3D shooters (FPS and TPS) go, Gears 2 would be the new flagship title.

All this being said, Halo is still king, and remains such, not even having Gears topple it.  This should say miles to anyone trying to hype up KZ2.  If Gears 2 didn't topple Halo, then Killzone 2 won't.  Halo was the first top-flight FPS to appear on a console, and set in place the template for how to do it.  And this makes Halo remain the top.

After reading this thread, I can conclude that "Halo Killer" is a taught thrown out by XBox and Halo fans to Sony fans daring them to say a title on the Playstation would top Halo.  They are just waiting for someone to do it, so they can then pounce whenever the title hits the market and doesn't do better than Halo in sales.  The original Killzone probably is the source of this taunt as there were likely some Sony fanboys who hyped Killzone over Halo and called it a "Halo Killer".  I know one guy who actually prefered Killzone 1 over Halo.  When pressed, it was because Killzone didn't have vehicles you drove in it.

It was never Sony fans that said Killzone would be a Halo killer. It was the gaming press. They hyped it to the moon for reasons I still can't really understand and they really latched onto the "Halo killer" term.

Here here! This is a good and sound logic.

This topic is so 2003.

Consoles owned: Game Cube, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3.

My prediction: NATAL WILL NOT help 360 sales. Maybe a 50-100k boost week 1, then a 30-70 k boost week 2, and back to the norm again after 3-5 weeks.
