It's a great idea, having different chat rooms for different areas, especially for Nintendo online games. The lack of a centralized online community limits our ability to find people. Allowing fellow VGC users to plan ahead could be pretty awesome methinks.

And on another note, medals would be awesome. If it's one thing the VGC community needs is more personality in the site (not the actual users, we have plenty of personality ). The sigs were one step in the right direction, medals could be another great one.*

Just throwing my 2 cents, this IM will require some serious modding, just to keep fanboys in check.

Couldn't we just set up IRC channels like decent, civilized people?

I always found IRC bothersome, but technically there is a chatroom for VGC, it saw a lot of use during the presidential debates.

More than that...

We have AIM and MSN tags in our profiles, if we have those messengers. Why not just use those programs to communicate with whom one wishes to speak?

and a more customizable home page
and change the # of games shown in the "games collection" section
and the ability to edit our post using the "post quick reply"

One problem I have with IMs that are hosted on much larger networks is that they are client based and therefore cannot use them at work. but thats more of a "me problem".

I just thought others might like the idea of a chat messenger that was strictly for this site, and may not require a client, and ads and a bunch of other junk that get thrown on to AOL and the like.

As for modding, maybe, though I think Block could work fine enough, chat rooms might be a different story.
