Forums - Sony Discussion - Question about PS3 and Killzone 2

I'll buy a PS3 for Killzone 2 (and other future releases of course), the game looks amazing, but as a Wii owner I am used to Wii FPS gameplay, and getting back to dual analog control makes me feel dizzy x_X

Tha's why I hate FPS genre. (that's right, I hate it, Killzone 2 is the exception, it will be the third FPS I ever played in my 12 gamer life years)

So the question is: Is it possible to plug a USB keyboard and Mouse to play this game?

I know that it is possible for UT3 but I don't know if that is a console standart for FPS games or if every game as to be Keyboard and Mouse compatible programmed by developers.

Anyone? Cause if it isn't, I'm sad that I won't play this game just because of gameplay issues :(

There is no keyboard and mouse support.

But keep in mind that this game plays very differently from other shooters. It has a much more realistic feel to it, and as a result is much slower and easier to handle with dual analogs.

I come from a PC gaming background (just check my game collection), and this is the first console shooter I've really been able to get into (aside from Goldeneye when I was much younger). I've been addicted to the multiplayer beta over the past few weeks, whereas I've played Resistance 1/2 and Warhawk online for a grand total of 20 hours combined, if that.  And I've had Resistance since launch!

Killzone 2 feels perfect with dual analog controls, and I actually think PC controls would only hinder the game. It would completely destroy what Guerrilla is trying to do with game.

It's not a twitch shooter and the cross hair moves quite a bit based on the characters movement, so I don't think KB&B would work all that well with a game like KZ2. GG apparently made this game with dual analog controls in mind.

How do you know? Guerilla said it?

I'm really looking forwars KB&M support. Because whatever they do to smooth the gameplay it will always be dual analog stick and it is powned by KB&M and Wiimote (according to many peoples and reviewers opinions)

Sorry dude but for me dual analog just sucks. You take AGES to point at enemies, and you should see me doing some headshots in CoD5 for Wii.

It's sort of their goal with Killzone 2.

Not only that, there are the gameplay videos and previews new and old that you can look up. Also, people (even people in this very forum) are in the multiplayer beta are saying this.

Sadly though, the beta will RIP tomorrow :(

Wow. NINE KZ2 topics on the Sony page.

OT: It'll work fine with Dual Analog, don't worry. It may be a jump from PC and Wii shooters, but it's a very different kind of game. For example, I couldn't imagine playing BioShock with KB+M.

I can, and I find that it's MUCH better than a controller.

The fact that all I have to do is roll the mouse wheel up and down OR use the number or F1 keys to change plasmids and weapons puts the keyboard and mouse configuration well above the controller for that game.

That's not even counting the aiming and hacking mechanics.

Okay. But that is people that actually enjoy playing FPS's with dual analog and doesn't now/care that it is far better to play with Wii of Mouse and Keyboard's, because they actually like it. And I DON'T  =|

Please this one has to me KB and M compatible. It will be the biggest game I'll ever miss!

Sorry, but mouse and keyboard controls just aren't going to happen.

Also, I wouldn't say that people enjoy playing with dual analog sticks. I mean, I'd rather have my mouse and keyboard too, but I can still enjoy games with a controller. Just take a deep breath and get used to a dual analog set up, it's really not that hard.

Did you read my post?  I'm an avid proponent of keyboard and mouse for shooters, but this game is different from other shooters.  Keyboard and mouse just don't suite the style of gameplay.  It's the one console FPS that, imo, works really well with dual analog controls.
