Forums - PC - Phenom 2 runs crysis at 6.2ghz!!!

It seems that AMD is going to give enthusiasts EXACTLY what they want. A cheap(er) chip running unlocked @ 3ghz with an unlocked multiplier which can run at 4ghz on air and 4+ on water cooling.

Im personally excited, and next year I may end up buying an all AMD computer for the first time in AGES! Wow, AM2+ just got more valuable than ever before.

That cooling is just cheating... I mean, have a cooling like that and imply it's possible to run Crysis with that.. I doubt it's possible in practice. A few benchmarks, sure, but actually playing? No way.

3 GHz -> 4 GHz = +33% isn't bad, though. I don't know how it actually performs and I'm not going to find out as I'm not interested right now. Sounds good anyway, yet I'd still stick with Intel (and I will - I have one, E2180, in the computer I'm using right now; I haven't tried overclocking yet, though, as my graphics card is a huge bottleneck).

i can see the poor little chip melting even with the cooling...... on a more technical note, id like to see how this increase errors in proportion to performance gains.

ive over clocked Intel, amd, freescale, and IBM.... fired a graphics card or two over clocking them... always fun to do!
