Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii Speak Channel released today

I just finished downloading the Wii Speak channel and I messd around with it for a bit. Here are my thoughts:

- Great Sound Quality. I was on the phone with my girlfriend and we were both in the channel and you could hear a little lag, but nothing terrible

- I really like the way it's set up. The lobby shows up to eight of your friends that you choose and whether or not they're online. You can also check if they even have Wii Speak.

- You can send and recieve photos and you can also send voice messages to your friends Wiis. I believe there is no limit to the number of people you can chat with aswell.

- You also have quick access to your Friend Code aswell as your address book. From what I read, you can chat with people you're not even friends with, but, I dunno how that works.

- A great job at voice chat. I'm really impressed with the setup and the sound quality.

You should all definitely check it out.

Sounds impressive! I'll try to get it when I get back to my residence on Tuesday (I stupidly left my code there -_-).

And I'd assume that the 'talking to people who aren't your friends' works something like this:

You (person A) are chatting with your friend (person B). Person B invites a non-mutual friend (person C), and you guys can all talk together. Using the quick-access friend code/list, you can easily add this person so you can talk with them independently.

And I thought there was going to be a limit of four??

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

is that it?

"Cammie Dunaway: It's up to four rooms of people. You could have an indefinite number of people. I think that's what a lot of people will do, particularly around the holidays. One of the things that I think is cool about it is how you can share photographs very seamlessly. So I come back from a Thanksgiving trip and have photographs that I want to share with my brother in North Carolina and my mom, and you can share the photographs and comment on them." Yes, Yes, that is all.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Oh! So, say, my three friends and I could all be chatting about a game in one room, then two of us could branch into other rooms to discuss strategy, and then reconvene in the first room? That's actually sweet!

Also, does there seem to be any way of putting the channel in the background? There's been a lot of speculation about that, as it would effectively allow voice chat in all previously-released online games.

Wait, where do I download it. I just looked in Wii Shop and found nothing.

^^There's a code that should have come in the box with your WiiSpeak. It also has instructions on how to get it.
