Well in Sweden Media Markt now is selling the Wii for 2290 SEK (around 320 USD with VAT) before it were sold for 2690 SEK.

I picked my Wii up for $388 with RE4 from JB HiFi in Australia - we have deals like this all the time.

To my knowledge, we have had Wii's (and everything else) in stock for quite a while now. Its been a fairly slow "winter" period, and the Wii still costs more than 2x what a PS2 does.
So although I haven't seen this updated price, it doesn't surprise me. Especially with the dollar doing so well. The Wii has always been a rip-odd here (and in many European countries), so its great to see some price equalisation.
Even with our $ sitting at $0.85 US (very high - used to be around 73c) is still $339 US. Take out our 10% GST, and its still $310US.
$249US should go for $319AU here - when our GST is taken into account.
A Wii pack + game (RE4?) for $349 seems fair to me. Not surprised at the reports of it now being sold out ;)

Given there have been a few Wii packing already in the last few months at $399 (my bro picked up the Big W (or Kmart, can't remember) one with Sonic and the extras (sports pack, sideways holder dealie, carry bag)) it doesn't come as a surprise that the prices might be dropping a bit.
Even Mario Party 8, which retails for $100, was $80 at Big W and Kmart and $70 at JB's at release.
yeah it's good to see the console coming in more of a price equilibrium with the US dollar. Now I would like it if we could say the same thing about the games.
They were $100 when the Aussie dollar bought 60 US cents, and now the dollar buys 85c, they're still $100. Someone's pocketing a lot of money from the exchange rate, it would be great to see some of those saving coming to consumers with regular games dropping to $80
Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Exactly, the best way to take advantage of the AUD $ at the moment is to buy DS or PSP games online, I have been just now on yesasia.com, Rune Factory for $38 AUD baby! It'll be $69 when released here for sure.

Yeah Nintendo's profits are solely based on Yen exchange rates. If the yen is worth less compared to $AU, then Nintendo can afford to lower the price in $AU. And probably the Wii is not doing as well as they wanted in australia, against the PS3/PS2.
Are you sure it wasn't some sort of deal where if you trade in your old system or games and you get extra money?
If there was an actual price cut on a per country kind of basis, it would have been announced and all over the gaming forums

I'm not an idiot, I know what I see.
