Forums - Sales - 360 v PS3 gap charts. All regions and others.

Thanks, great graphs. The Others made me laugh for some reason, the 360 came sooooo close and it seems to be regaining a stable lead now.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

Looks like a record gap between PS3/360 by the end of this month.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Sony are going to have to bite the bullet on price soon.

I can see them hanging tough in Others for a little while longer, although even there they can't wait too long as the 360 will get a big boost due to economy/price as they key decision making driver for a lot of purchases.

In Japan a few more good releases in a row and they'll likely have quelled the 360. Unless the numbers are wrong the sales for TLR show that while 360 can shift decent numbers (relatively) in Japan now the console sales didn't get as high a spike indicating that the base is settling again and rather than lot's of new people buying 360 for TLR many buyers had probably bought one already for LO or some similar RPG.

In US though the 360 price and economy is clearly driving a huge swing away from the high price point of the PS3. If the PS3 isn't cheaper in US soon then Sony really will be facing the prospect of finishing miles behind 360 in US (although looking at Wii numbers it looks like 360 will be finishing miles behind Wii, which really indicates how radically Nintendo/Sony have swapped places this generation so far).

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

M$ seemed to have raised their avg weekly sales of 360 from 2k to around 7k which is a victory for them. They r already en route to outselling the original xbox 2:1 which is great. M$ should ultimately finish JPN with a 10-12% console market share. Not bad at all.

SONY have probably given up on NA. At best they will come within scratching distance(2-3 million units), and thats if they chop the price down $100. M$ would probably scrap the arcade and bring the pro down to $199 in that case. EUR is the only interesting battle ground :)

That graph makes the PS3 look much more impressive in Japan than it actually is.

Also, because the graphs are pretty similar at those 2 points, am I correct in saying that the gap hasn't changed since the start of the year till now? (or barely changed).

shows clear momentum for 360

but also shows despite all the JRPG's & low price....MS just cant break through in Japan significantly!
