N'Gai Croal. He is a well known games journalist.
I don't think we can comment KZ2s gameplay since we know so little about it.

Sure it perfected online gaming on consoles, but I don't find anything even remotely interesting about it, and why people are constantly searching for the "Halo killer" IMO, Killzone 2 looks more interesting at this point than Halo 3. |
Yup, and Haze is also a brand new and unproven IP.
Haze is a brand new and unproven IP, however noone at this point expects anything of it beyond graphics. That said, it has a promising storyline and is getting good previews. I quite understand the point about halo, im a 360 owner but i dont think ill be picking it up until next year if at all, im going to be more preoccupied with bioshock, lost odyssey and mass effect. Although i do get why halo is huge, ive only ever played the multiplayer once and it was amazing. But back to killzone 2, the best guides we have are the first installment and the trailers. The first installment had extremely so-so gameplay and the trailers dont indicate that the game will do anything to depart from that. It will also be very difficult to counter the brilliance of halo-multiplayer, because in this generation it is that feature that will make halo 3 great

Because of the good graphics=good game mentality. This mentality is ofcourse wrong
Lets start with some specs, killzone 1 sucked, reason? They rushed the game and if you actually played it, it sucked becuase it was dull, but the only good thing was the story. Now Killzone 2, is on a different platform(much like liberation on psp)Sony fans are hyped about the game, gamespot, ign, gametraielrs that are hyped about the game. The gameplay in killzone 2 atleast in that pre alpha demo is already 200times more creative and entertaining than a level in killzone 1. As long as it has a good story, and descent graphics and unbelieveble gameplay, which according to some sites its the only actual FPS bringing something different from average fps. This game has more hype than halo 3.

Sony is putting an amazing amount of resources into Killzone 2. There are more than 135 developers on the team producting it (not counting playtesters, etc) so it likely has one of the biggest teams ever producing a videogame. All that money and effort is to produce a game where they can say "Look at this, it looks better than anything on the 360, that's the power of the PS3". But I have to ask, how many developers are going to be willing to pour that much money into a third party game for the system? If it requires double the team size and increased cost to make a game that looks better (maybe only slightly better) than what can be done on the 360 what's the point?
What if Gears of War 2 looks better than Killzone 2? I think the biggest problem with the PS3 is Cell. It requires developers to learn a new way of making games so it will likely take years before they begin to really tap the power of it and by then it's likely that the next generation of consoles will be on the horizon. Meanwhile the 360 which developers are able to program for more easily and without the major learning curve of the PS3 will likely see games using more of it's potential sooner.
So which kind of system would you want? A system where more of it's potential can be used earlier in it's lifecycle so you get to enjoy that potential longer or one where you only get to see it's potential nearer the end of it's lifecycle?

Despite the other stuff, you're basing the opinion mainly on trailers. I'd say to just hold on a while as more of the game comes out and more gameplay is shown rather than just a 10 minute demo level.
Still, despite being a short level being shown off, a number of previews have given it good reviews such as this one. http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/levelup/archive/2007/07/12/world-exclusive-first-killzone-2-hands-on.aspx

Seeing that developers are learning how to do everything better on the PS3 now and multi-platform games are becoming more equal as well as other games such as MGS4 that had a really awesome looking gameplay demonstration, I would probably choose seeing more potential as the years go by.
Lol, gotta love leo-j. He seems to be taking this 'amazing gameplay' for granted. But the thing is, ONLY Sony fans are hyped for this game. Me original question was simply, why? There are going to be better games on that platform and what leo-j will notice when he looks closer is that all of these game sites are complementing Killzone 2's GRAPHICS not its GAMEPLAY which appears to be just as boring as the original's. Legend11 is right, they are concentrating on being able to say 'look at this,' instead of 'feel how this plays.' As for the whole bringing something new to FPS, what exactly is new about it leo? Matter of fact, it looks like it uses the standard Gears-of-War-style damage system

I think the hardest part about the ps3 is the spe's to develop for. Also what does wanting a system have to do with killzone 2? Killzone 2 has realistc movement, unlike unreal tournament 3, or gears of war. Epic stated they needed to bring out the most out of the 360 to make the 360 game of gears of war, I seriously doubt the secound will look any better. We just have to wait and see what happens.
