to me, "since Metroid Prime 3" invalidates your opinion, but to each his or her own.

I have to agree with him. MP3 is probably the best first person game with shooting elements that the 3 consoles have. Kinda slow still but superb controls.

I didn't want to make another L4D thread about this, but I finally finished all the campaigns last night (awesome by the way) and I thought something was odd:

No Mercy, the first campaign, seems like it's by far the hardest. Blood Harvest, the last campaign, was simple.

In No Mercy, you have long levels that really make you suffer to get to those safe houses, there are some pretty hairy spots like the lift and the sewers, and the final fight is so hard because it's just so easy to die.

In Blood Harvest, getting through the level is simple. It's memorable but there was nothing that was actually hard. I don't know if we got lucky or what but we had a pretty easy time. Actually, well I guess the corn fields are hard when a tank spawns there because he's hard to see. On the final fight, as long as you stay in the stair area on the upper floor it's hard to fail.

Anyways, not a complaint about the game, just thought it was odd the last level is the easiest and the first level was the hardest.

Also, when you arrive on the tarmac on Dead Air - awesome.

Nobody can say the Source engine is outdated after seeing that.

==> yes, I remember this too (only played this level one time). The stair were easy to defend

Rescue in blood harvest is meant to be played up on the 2nd floor of the barn. We didn't have a single infected get up to us. Then again that was only advanced and not expert, but still. I can't wait for expert corn fields, that's gonna be some serious shit.

I've never even been in that barn, then again, I have only completed all the campaigns on normal.  I finished No Mercy last night on advanced but didn't survive (Tank cheap shotted me off the building).

And yeah, those corn fields are so scary because you can't see anything until it's right on you.  I get lost there every time trying to find the farm house.  I can always find the tractor pretty easily but getting to the house is always a chore.

We make a run for the tractor and hole up there, after the horde we make a run to the house and then fight there. It works flawlessly as long as everyone goes along with the plan.

That's what we did with my first group in the corn fields but I joined a group last night that the first three times we entered the corn field a tank immedietly spawned along with hunters/smoker/boomer and screwed us.  The fourth time we finally got into the corn fields without a tank and we were fine.

What problem did you have the controls on MP3?

I thought your statement was about the entirety of the game as an FPS. To me, as an FPS, it sucked. The controls were alright but not much better than CoD4 with sticks, imo. The Wiimote just isn't that accurate yet. I suppose the motion plus gizmo that adds to the cost of every controller will help. But if you are going to say you haven't enjoyed an FPS on console since MP3, I just don't trust your opinion because there have been several since then that I've found better. That's all.

But then, I wasn't going to trust any opinion that a controller is better than keyboard and mouse. I think it is more convienant at times, yes, and that's why I might finally play Bioshock on PS3 instead of PC since i can rent it as well (oh, and those stupid enticing trophies). My favorite controls for a console FPS so far is Unreal Tournament 3 because I can use my wireless keyboard and mouse.
