Forums - Sales - Prediction: RE5 will be the worst selling RE in Japan

But I wonder if something like RE3.5 (Youtibe it, it really excists) wouldn't sell anymore. At least it looks like Cursed Mountain plays a bit like the old RE's.

Did you play the new Silent Hill? I found it to be as old school survival horror as next gen game can get. I liked it better than Dead Space despite the lower reviews since it was made for the older fans of the series...

I actually didn't get it because of the reviews, but if now I might give it a try.

i dont' think it's that hard of a prediction. Unless we count RE4 on GC by itself i don't think RE5 will sell better than any other main RE game. It's unlikely to me that it could sell 400k, not a very gutsy prediction.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

IT probably will flop in Japan. But after the Amazing Success of all the versions RE4...i'm expecting Gigantic Sales in US and Europe.

Quite possibly.

Who cares about good gameplay in a horror game?? It's a freakin horror game, gpd gameplay is a bonus but the scares is what should be the dev's priority.

That's like saying that great acting and deep storylines make or break a gore movie and we all know that's not true.

So you think a non scary horror game is a good thing? That it even qualifies as a HORROR game at all??

Do you expect romance and comedy in your horror movies? Because that's kind of what you're implying by saying that scares isn't the central pillar of what makes a good, freakin HORROR game.

You completely missed my point and even your own point, which is actually quite an accomplishment. I didn't say that a horror game shouldn't be scary. As a matter of fact, I only said 3 words. A horror game should definitely be scary, but that's what makes the genre of the game and not the game itself. If it wasn't scary, it wouldn't be a horror game. But if it didn't have good gameplay, it wouldn't be worth playing. That's like saying the main emphasis of a developer making a racing game should be to include cars, but it doesn't matter how you drive them or how easy they are to operate. I don't expect romance and comedy in my horror movies, just like I don't expect swords and magic in Gran Turismo. But don't put words in my mouth with an argument that poor.

A horror game is a horror game by nature of being a horror game. It will be scary.

A good horror game has to play well. The question "Who cares about good gameplay in a horror game" is not only asinine, it borders on being so idiotic as to be self-destructive.
