Forums - Gaming - Sonic Xtreme for the Sega Saturn will soon exist!

Stof, you do know the complete Starfox 2 rom can be found, right? And there is a fan translated version as well. By the sounds of things, it seems you haven't played it :(

Starfox 2 is actually pretty interesting with how it differes from Starfox 64, such as some real time strategy ish elements. It's also possible to flash SF2 to a cart and play it on an actual SNES.

BTW, I believe the leaked version of Xtreme is buil 718, but I can't remember. Some bay for pirates may have it. Oh, and prepare to be very disappointed.

Cancelled Star Fox 2 in order to focus on Star Fox 64??? Star Fox 2 was pretty much finished! Why not complete the game, and ship them both out? Man, the logic I hear sometimes is just utter stupidity. What was Nintendo thinking? What a waste of a game. I suppose if Nintendo wanted to release another Mario game at the same time as Galaxy, they would have to cancel Galaxy, since there isn't enough room for two, right? It's too late. I've already lost hope for mankind a long time ago.

Starfox 2 was a very late SNES title that used an expensive chip. So why release a game that is very expensive to produce on an old platform, especially when this release would take away attention from the launch of your new system?

The logic is far from stupid.

a couple of SFX chip powered games were never released, and im sure there were a few 3rd party games that used it that were complete failures, Nintendo were probably being over cautious as per usual

As for Sonic, it belongs in 2D, the whole concept of a 'fast' 3D platform game just doesnt work.

More to the point, were the 2D sonic games really very good in the first place? they had a hell of alot of hype and the 16big graphics dazzled us back in the day but playing them now is a very uncomfortable and annoying experience for me. Even SMB1 still oozes fun gameplay 20 years on.

I still love going back and playing old Sonic games, and am actually doing preproduction work for a large scale (EDIT: non-professional, obviously) Sonic game right now.

If they were that smart, they would have thought ahead of time. And, if they were smarter, they would release the game on the Virtual Console. It's made, so why not release it? We need more, good games, even if they are old, to lower the percentage of crappy games.

Good, you can finish Sonic Xtreme while you're at it. :)

thing you have to remember when watching the sonic xtreme video is it was in 1996, and it was going up against crash bandicoot and mario 64. I think this game could match up very well against crash bandicoot in 96. Though right now it just looks outdated.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Maybe it would have been good back then...but it looks disorientating and a mess of pixels...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Starfox 2 was delayed numerous times, thats nothing you could get around.

And no, it's gameplay hasn't held up very well. Like I said you can find the rom on google in a second, so why don't you actually try it?
