a couple of SFX chip powered games were never released, and im sure there were a few 3rd party games that used it that were complete failures, Nintendo were probably being over cautious as per usual
As for Sonic, it belongs in 2D, the whole concept of a 'fast' 3D platform game just doesnt work.
More to the point, were the 2D sonic games really very good in the first place? they had a hell of alot of hype and the 16big graphics dazzled us back in the day but playing them now is a very uncomfortable and annoying experience for me. Even SMB1 still oozes fun gameplay 20 years on.
