Playstation 2 was released in 2000. It became the first console to ever play DVD's and play CDs. Playstation 2 still remains the best selling console of all time. Playstation 2 remains to get in some great monthly sales every year. I think now it is at 140 million units worlwide. I predict by 2011, PS2 will be discontinued. By that time, people would have move on to the PS3.

When do you think the  PS2 will be discontinued?

When the ps3 sells at $299 with PS2 BC.

The PS2 will be discontinued when the demand for it is low enough.

At the end of this gen. PS2 was too great to be discontinued. It has the best library of games in gaming industry.

Areound late 2009 or early 2010, I don't think the demand would be high enough to keep it alive 'till then. Also the ps3 would probally be cheaper with BC.

yeh ps2 will be discontinue when the demand is extremely low. i remember last year in january ps2 actually outsold 360. but yeh sony will stop making the ps2 when it stops selling, as long as sony makes a profit off the ps2 it will keep selling

ps1 came out in 1995, it was finally discontinued in 2005, 2 entire gen's it survied. i expect the same with ps2
