Forums - Microsoft - More platformers on the way?

Microsoft is trying to reach a more casual/children/female market, so do you think they are going to focus more on platformers? Platformers have been absent this gen, but with Banjo Kazooie and MS' attempt to get some casual marketshare, do you see more platformers on the way? I hope so. It's my favorite genre and I don't want to see it die.

I am hoping for another Conker game next year, followed by another Banjo Kazooie in 2010 w/... nvm, it would spoil the plot of nuts and bolts. But it should be at least 1/4 platforming, becuase the way they set up the end of the game, some levels could be with BK having their old moves and exploring colletly levles, while other levels also have vechiles, and other levels are challenge focused like Nuts and bolts was.

I am eagerly awaiting the next installment of the "Blinx" series.

Platforming, what is this the 90's? you should know that this generation is FPS and you'll deal with that and like it.

I am not saying they should be overloaded with platformers, just 2 or 3 a year. Plus, many people agree with me considering the PS3 and Xbox 360 are nowhere near PS2 sales.

People don't want shooters, they want a more variety of games (mostly action adventure).

@McDonaldsGuy

Nice name by the way, well Uncharted, Mirror's Edge, Little big planet, Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia, Ratchet and Clank, Pixel junk eden, etc...

Are all Action adventure titles, and are mostly platformers this gen has some descent platformers imo.

Given the state of XNA/XBLA titles...There are plenty on the way.

The X360 has more platformers than any other system if you look into XNA/XBLA.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I really don't think you can call Uncharted "mostly" a platformer, the rest I agree with though.

...

They're obviously trying to tap into the more casual audience now it would seem with the NXE's Mii-styled avatars, the pro bundle sku including kung-fu panda and lego indiana jones...but I can't see any MS published platformers on the way as Rare has been hinting on a next installment in the Killer Instinct series. It would seem if there are more platformers coming in the near future they won't be exclusive to Microsoft's console.

What platformers are there on XBLA? I'm curious.

Also, BK:NT isn't a platformer.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...
