I think people need to learn to differentiate between good games and big games.
From an entire sales point of view, with GTA out the picture there are only 3 games with the proven sales power confirmed to be before Christmas - Halo, Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros.
Games like Drakes, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Project Gothem Racing 4 etc will sell consoles, sure, but so will games like My Sims, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Soul Calibur Legends. I mean look at the sales of Mario Party 8, it's almost at 1.5 million now, and that game was released in the summer. It just shows that quality isn't the biggest factor in selling a game.
The way I see it is, with the 'second tier' games being about even for the consoles, the Wii has the most proven seller, the biggest momentum and the lowest price point come Xmas 2007, there is absolutely nothing stopping it (except maybe the DS!).
