That's like saying your girlfriend is just meat, blood, and bones. My inanimate objects love me and I love them.

Exactly! I see one of you is getting the hang of it.

Real bad analogy. If your girlfriend start getting on your nerves, you dump her and move on. You don't stay with her while ignoring the advances of the hot chick that works at the local coffee shop.

grumbles.  He's actually saying his girlfriend is more than just meat, blood and bones.  Just like your console.  I can't believe I'm being nice here, must be that great porn I got from torrent yesterday.

Still a bad analogy. If a console doesn't provide the games I want. I get one that does. If I'm dating a girl and we can't get along. We part ways.

You part ways and you get one that does (get along with you).  See what I did there?  (1)You seem to have this annoying habit of wanting an analogy to fit exactly, it's just an analogy and no analogy is perfect.  Even a 12 year old knows that.  (2)But you're drifting from your own topic, (3)stop nitpicking the analogies and (4)get a sense of humor.  Geez.

1. Nope, just don't use an analogy if it doesn't apply.

2. I didn't bring up girlfriends in comparison to consoles.

3. I post how I want to. You don't like it. Don't read my posts.

4. I have one. I use it on these boards frequently. Do I have to use it in all of my posts? Nope. Don't like it? See number 3.

My analogy was just a joke. I really agree with the o.p..

And really, I have been enjoying posting here less too. Of course, I'm not going to stop. Still, I find myself reading a thread and watching as people take the slightest bit of bad news to attack console A, and use the slightest piece of good news to attack console A while building up console B. One night, I sat back and skimmed about six months of threads (I was looking for one thread in particular, and the search engine wasn't helping). It was pretty damned depressing. All we do is recycle the same arguments over and over. The amount of info that we get wrong was staggering. Yet we'll still argue and flame over the latest bit of speculation.

I used to take pleasure as a Snes owner when the Sega would screw up. I was happy as a Dreamcast owner when the PS2 wasn't delivering. Now, I'm just tired. I feel like a soldier whose seen nothing but war since he was a child (a little dramatic, aren't I?) Frankly, I'm tired of the fighting. I go into threads now more than ever, just reading a few posts, backing out, and logging off.

Their just silicone and plastic.

Lately, I've reverted back to my childhood mentality. Before the PS3 and 360. Before the Snes and Genesis. Back to when, as far as I knew, it was just the Nes......and all I wanted to do was play.

Play more, people. Play more.

D21Lewis, I had no problem with you making a joke. I do it often. I just thought it was funny Code Samurai seemed to be throwing a hissy fit over analogies and my lack of sense of humor. I mean in my first response to your analogy I wasn't even being serious, I figured the remark about the hot girl at the coffee shop would be clue enough but apparently that flew right over Code Samurai's head I only kept responding to him just to needle him to be honest. I mean he seems more concerned with analogies and my view of them than the actual topic after all.

We've all been fanboys at one time or another. Then you realize how stupid you look and just get back to whats important. The games.

I see you took my advice too seriously.  See what you did?  You just made d21lewis post something serious.   For shame!

Being serious almost killed me.

I....feel...so.....weak.

There are far too many posters on this site that are treating their console of choice like an endangered family member as of late. I've seen posters I thought were rational go off the preverbial deep end. As the title implies, its just an electronic device. I'll take it further than that. It is just an electronic device manufactured by a company that only cares about your money. They don't care about you personally. Sure we all have our favorite manufacturer of choice but lets stop pretending that they are any different than their competitors in the big picture.

At this point in the console race their are games to be had on all platforms. If you are so bitter and so angry about the games on another platform that you cannot enjoy your console of choice, maybe you chose the wrong console. If you can't recognize that games can be exceptional outside of your platform of choice, then please turn in your gamer cards and stop wasting our time.

I'm not going to call anyone out by name but you know who are. I have my preferences. I'm a Nintendo fan at heart. Is the Wii my favorite console? Nope the 360 is. Was the Gamecube my favorite console last gen? Nope the Dreamcast was. People need to start following the games instead the game manufacturers and then maybe they'd enjoy their hobby instead of having to defend their irrational attachment to a hardware manufacturer. Can everyone afford to buy every console? No, not everyone can. If you can't afford to buy more than one console then considering the game lineup of each console before hand can save you a lot of headache. Will you get all the top notch titles on your platform? Nope, but more than likely you have a friend that has that console. Ask to swap sometimes, they can play what they've been missing and you can do the same.

Okay rant over. I don't make many threads but I had to say something because VGChartz is becoming a less enjoyable place to post as of late. I've always liked the world view this forum provides, but as of late it feels like a juvenile shouting match has been taking place.
