Forums - Nintendo - Capcom: Street Fighter games not possible on Wii, due to it's controls.

My post in that thread.

I must ask why the input control is even a posing variable. This will apply to all SF games, not just SF2HD.

I understand the PC is getting Street Fighter IV yet the default input method is most certainly not the favored control method by those who plan to purchase the title - the keyboard.

The Sega Genesis received a port of Street Figher 2 (Special Championship Edition) but was limited to a 3 button controller. Capcom circumvented this issue by utlizing the pause button to select between kick and punch attacks. However, a month or so after release Sega provided a 6 button controller mostly for use with the title.

For the SNES release of The World Warriors, Capcom launched the Capcom Power Stick Fighter joystick pad just for the game.

My point is that some of the best selling titles in the series and an impending release in the series all have had either default control issues are peripheral releases to coincide with it. The control issue is obviously a very minor factor in the history of this series so why make it an issue now?

Sven is correct regarding the file size issue. 43 MB (the believed file size limitation) is just slightly larger than most major N64 releases (32 MB). In fact the only tile on the N64 to surpass that file size was Capcom's own Resident Evil 2 at 64 MB.

@Viper: The RE2 was ported to N64 by Angel Studios, which is Rockstar North these days, i believe.

Wow sad excuse. They've released SF2, multiple versions, on the Virtual Console. Even worse they made SFA3 for GBA. That's GBA! Hell they put SFA1 on Gameboy Color. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is coming to Wii. Sad excuses Capcom, just plain sad.

Angel Studio was renamed Rockstar Vienna when they were bought and they  were disbanded a few years/months ago.

They are now developing the horror game "Cursed Montain " for Wii in cooperation with other studios.

Wii download content limit is 320 blocks that is 40 MB ( 1 block = 128 kb )

BTW Pokemon Stadium 2, Conker , Ogre Battle 64 and Paper Mario were on cartridges above the 32MB limit.

@celine: Thanks. Hard to remember all the "Rockstar" studios, since quite a few renamed. DMA was "North" then?

So the flash memory of the Wii you can use is only 270 MB of the 512 MB.

On topic: Capcom, what happened? You used to be good.

They visited this site and realized Australians support the Wii.

I beg your pardon, Capcom?

Excellent Example... Also they are releasing the Tatsunoko vs Capcom (4 buttons only, I know)... so the control is not an excuse
