I have a great feeling 360 is overtracked.

Microsoft is talking about doubling up and tripling up on the PS3 in the UK in every other press conference, right from the horses mouth. Do you really think it's all an illusion created to make the PS3 look bad?

Never say something is over or under-tracked because it doesn't fit in with what you hope. Either trust the site, or don't, but don't use it as proof when it meets your hopes, and discredit it when it doesn't.

That said...ok, why do you get the feeling the 360 is overtracked?

Also, why is that feeling "great?"

Sony has also said they are outselling M$ in Europe.  I don't take anything seriously from M$ or Sony with relation to sales unless it is in their financial reports.  I'd need some independent verification, unfortunately, we don't get any NPD numbers for Europe.

Yes, VGChartz is independant confirmation. It's a little rediculious to believe that both sources are lying because the results dont' necessarily meet one's hopes.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

PS3 not doing terribly against 360 when comparing revenue rather than units sold.

Example using GBP
PS3 sales 131k @ 290 GBP = £38 mil revenue
360 sales 230k @ 150 GBP = £34.5 mil revenue

(150 GBP is rough average based on blended sales of Arcades, 60Gb, Elites)

The Elite is £220 so you are too skewed to the cheaper model.

Plus, most revenue is made out of software.

Plus, arent you forgetting that at most Sony is only breaking even on every PS3 sold?

*astonished face*

Also check out adjustments... last week Wii and DS were about 600k each... now Wii was ~675k and DS ~700k

I really don't think Sony going to lower the price on PS3 during the first 6 month of 09 I really can't see it, they already lose way to much already on each sold I don't think they can handle yet another 100$ per console.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Has nothing to do with "hope".  The 360 has been overtracked many times here in the past.  It crossed the 20 million barrier about 4 times.  I guess we'll see come financial reports time.

Very incredible numbers for the X360 and Wii.

Although we'll have to wait on NA and JP data, it's very likely that, based on previous trends, that the X360 will beat the Playstation 3 by around 200,000 units this week once the dust has cleared.

That's absolutely insane given how close the systems were before the X360 price drop. Europe has now become ground zero for the MS/Sony saga, and the appearent beatdown that Microsoft is handing Sony.

If trends continue, we could see the Xbox 360 outsell the Playstation 3 by up to 500,000 units on one given week. Insane, given the fact that the Playstation 3's YTD lead was pretty beefy at one point. Microsoft has done the exact same thing Sony did in 2007: Capture the end of year momentum with a critical price drop.

And for those wondering why this is going on - It's the fact that the X360 is FINALLY, 3 years after launch, at a decent price. Everyone has been saying the X360 has the best library, and had tons of good things going for it - but the actual sales of the system never seemed to match what the system offered. Now, the price is good enough to entice the average gaming consumer to pick the Xbox 360 head & shoulders above the truly inferior Playstation 3.

Now, when I say inferior, I'm not talking hardware specs, but what consumers perceive as being valuable - Blu-Ray isn't as important now that the BR-DVD players are cheaper, and games are coming back to the forefront. And when you have a system that plays the same, and better, games at half the price....Eventually, your going to pick up a massive amount of the consumers. I thought Microsoft was spewing PR tripe when they mentioned that consoles sell 70% of their hardware below the $199 price. It now seems plausible that the X360 may indeed sell twice it's install base, now at the $199 price point.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

@ZenfoldorVGI, UK is =/= Euopre(PAL territories), where PS3 has bigger installbase, then x360.

Anyway, why PS3 had only 20k increase, while x360 and Wii got 100-150k increase. For what reason?

the sales for the xbox360 for the last couple of weeks are upped

The SAME can happen later to PS3, when more data from GFK and MCV will be available. =)

Yeah, GFK and MCV could be just like NPD last month. Thanks for bringing that up Crazzy.
