It's funny that they didn't lower the prices when the pound was super-strong last year. No, they just made a fat load of profit off us. This (the UK) is the only place where the PS3 is still $600. Stop ripping us off already.

They don't specifically say Playstation products. I would be surprised if they raised the prices on their game division.
Still, this is pretty disheartening. The economy everywhere is a complete mess.

Who knows, it seems like Sony likes to shaft their most popular market. Look at their game releases coming out a month after they do in the US.

"Profit" is probably not the best word to use when describing the PS3...
We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai
It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps
We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Well the initial cost of the PS3 60GB was about $850, but you take into account the loss of the emotion engine, and probable other cuts due to larger production, and it could come down to $800
In the UK, it launched at £425, which was then about $850, though if you remove if VAT it is about £350, so $700, so all that happened is that they lost $100 less than in the US
