Forums - Nintendo - Reggie: Third parties don't "get" the Wii, more

@Lord: Yes it was, it came under the "Wii Version Production Team" or something like that. Have you even beaten the game?

Well, we got the better versions of Sonic, Facebreaker, & Shaun White, so at least some of the games are doing better on the Wii.

The wii to alot of third parties like UBI is just a tool for some quick profit.

Although no reviewers commented on it, people who own the game are saying that TWO levels are missing from Sonic Unleashed Wii. The Empire City, and the Africa level who's name escapes me. I don't think there was any extra content to make up for the fact that these two levels are missing, and if so, **** you Sega. Seriously, I've had it with third parties treating the Wii like crap.

On the other hand, the Wii version did have an arguably superior team working on it, so the level designs are a bit different. I'll find out if the game is good when I play it this weekend.

You're kidding. Right? You have to be kidding. The only way to justify that is if every single other level is different. And longer.

Or shorter in case of the Werehog levels.

I would also accept "faster" to be applied to all levels.

Not meaning to be inflammatory, but I can understand third parties getting a mixed message when games like Carnival Games and Wii Sports/Play/Fit are among the best games on the console and games that are more "serious" seem to be missed, NMH, Okami, apparently COD: World at war.....

If Ninty changes their marketing a little, they could do a lot to dispel this, but they don't. And quite frankly, the only visibly hurt by this are some of the Wii consumers, so I can't fault them for continuing to push stuff like their Wii Series, Animal Crossing, and even Flash focus and brain Training for the DS.

Your sig: good.
Your post: bad.

Oh come on sir.  COD 5 was a perfect chance for a good game to do well. Apprently it bombed, that doesn't exactly encourage a developer to put their A team on a serious Wii project.

GGHHKK-

All right, mouth-foaming over. Those three games you just named? Okami is a port of a two-year-old PS2 game, and actually sold about on level with the PS2 version! That is not a strong property in the first place.

No More Heroes is the best-selling game its studio ever produced. They are so happy with how it went. I am not even kidding.

All the Call of Duty fans own 360s and PS3s or gaming capable PCs.

Nintendo hardcore gamers do not want ports and watered down multiplats! We also want bombastic, high-budget super titles that are the best their studios produce. We reject the scraps, sir! We are not in need of charity, merely in need of being taken seriously, just once.

Rol and Khuutra, I've been keeping up with the news on it all day, and so far I haven't found anyone say the rumor is false. All I've heard of are many confirmations that Empire City is not in the game -at all- and that Mazuri (africa) is only a boss fight, and no level.

What's weird is that on the IGN interview, they say that you go through various places "including jungles, icy mountains, European cities, skyscrapers and more)."

Skyscrapers would most likely mean Empire City, the level which everyone is claiming was completely missing in the game. So why did the IGN review mention it? There's a few reasons. Maybe the level is in the game and the player's guide for some reason doesn't cover it. Maybe IGN wasn't actually playing the Wii version (LOL)? Maybe IGN meant something different than Empire City when talking about Skyscrapers.

All of those possibilities don't seem any more likely than the other, so really I have no idea what to think.

If Sega really took out those two levels then I'm extremely pissed. Empire City was looking to be one of my favorites.
