I don't think sony is worried about the 360 now. It's probably just about making money from their console endeavors now.

Prediction: FFvXIII announced for 360 E3 2009 (you know S-E and M$ are real close now lol)

The 360 sold 100k more units than the PS3 this week. Next week, things will get even better with the release of Last remnant in Japan. That could be an extra of 15k units in Japan (23k this week might be possible). So we have around 220k more Xbox360s than the PS3 in 2 weeks and the december hasn't even started. I think the Xbox360 could increase the gap to 6.5 million at the end of the year.

Well and I don't see why things should change (early) next year. Sony won't cut the price straight after Xmas, that would be stupid. So a price-cut might happen in March or April. That would give the 360 another 3-4 months of outselling the PS3. so let's say another 14 weeks for the 360 to sell better than PS3. Let's calculate with an average gap of 50k each week. That would be 700k more Xbox360s than PS3. The total gap would be like 7.2 million. We just don't know if Sony cuts the price, which would make get the PS3 even deeper in the reds, and we don't know how games like GoWIII or Killzone2 can affect console-sales either. So it is pure speculation so far.

 

But the really important thing is the software sales. That is, where the Xbox360 really starts to shine. Gears of War2 is insane, Fable did a great job, CoD WaW seems to do a goob job on the 360 (outselling the PS3-version in Europe), Fallout3 will cross 1million units soon, Left 4 Dead will be great and Banjo.... well, let's hope for legs

PS3 on the other hand is good, but not impressive. LBP did okay, but didn't match expectations. It is bundled in Europe (with console) and in Japan (with controller), donÄt know about the US. So I expected to be a millionseller already. Resistance2 had a decent 1st week in the US, but nothing special at all. And it will be frontloaded like every other shooter. Socom didn't sell great (I know, downloads...) but a game bundled with a bluetooth headset and such sales is not good. Motorstorm just bombed.

If MS announces its Big Gun for 09 in February (like they did with GoW2), they might steal something of the hype for upcoming PS3 games. Great ingame footage of Alan Wake would make me happy :D

Yep, Mike.  That is what you believe.  But as such, I believe the opposite.  Since nothing the PS3 has done so far has been better in a technical standpoint than any 360 game, and with Gears of War 2 being universally accepted as the best console graphics to date (no point arguing as it is universal and I could care less about the few people who "believe" some other game looks better), I don't see it having any affect in 2009.

I am afraid you are in the very small majority who believe GoW2 has the best graphics, which in truth is barely an improvement over GoW1! Everyone who has been able to fully view the games in question KNOWS that Uncharted is still undoubtedly the BEST looking game of this generation. GoW2 struggles to pass MGS4(and I still things MGS4 looks better than it with textures that just scream at you). You can search for yourself, look up majority of any topic on which games looks better and most will say Uncharted. You may dismiss these allegations simply because it is a PS3 exclusive so you think its PS3 fanboy bias, but it is very much real my friend, there is no comparison.

And Even if GoW2 is not the best looking game of the generation, Graphics are not everything as I am sure you can agree. At some point Graphics take a back seet to functionality and immersion. Games like Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, MGS4, LBP take home those trophies as well unfortunately. Do you believe a game as exspansive as LBP can be done elsewhere to the same magnitude? Afraid not.MGS4 filled a dual layered disc, 50gb. That most definitely cannot be done on 360. Yes, you can say "Well, they could cut this, compress that, etc!" but in that case they could have cut this, compressed that in the PS3 version and got EVEN MORE out of the game. Killzone 2 graphics are unmatched as of yet. The game is said to trully impress.

You accused his last statement of being speculation, which it is. Yet can you blame him? Can you not see where he derives these assumptions? Think about the games that are said to be released in 09.

Heavy Rain-A living breathing world within itself, Cinimatic in execution, a game which never ends even if you die.

Uncharted 2-Beautiful, superb graphics, furthering the natural movements of the first game.

Killzone 2- The future holder of best looking game of all time banner. This is undeniable as anyone who has had hands on experience with it can tell you that the graphics are un rivaled. Gameplay is said to impress even further.

FFXIII?- This game is multiplat but the game was made specifically for PS3, supposedly fully utilizing the Blu Ray and the Cell. We are bound to see SOME technical marvels here as well.

WKC-Said to be another huge exspansive game to rival even the FF series. Traditional in execution with a new gen battle system to keep it fresh. Also ushering in the standard of JRPGs with online play which WRPGs have already adapted to.

HOME-to come out this year going into next. brand new experience entirely then what we are used to with gaming. Making the gaming virtual reality litterally it's/your own.

Sry for the rant, I am not trying to be hostile in anyway. Just saying, his points are very much plausible. And GoW2 being Best Grphix is just...well....wrong.

Wow, fanboy post extraordinaire!  Anyone that has examined the games in question a.k.a. me and any major review site as well as any unbiased individual that owns both a PS3 and 360 will agree with me that Gears of War 2 (and Gears of War 1 before it) has the best console graphics to date.  Sorry about how upset that makes you, but it's true nonetheless.

Oh and a game like LBP would be very easy to do on a 360, considering the actual game is only a level creator and some preset levels.  All the rest depends on how much user created content you download or how much you create.

I think the NXE is much more appealing than HOME.  NXE is fast AND community oriented.  The PS3 Home update will leave many skipping it and going straight into games.  Oh, and have you even played Gears of War 2 as well as Uncharted?  I'm guessing you haven't played them both.

btw: you can go straight into games from home , you can create games and invite friends from home network and NXE is a XMB with a few things addeds like avatars.

but sony took Home a step further turning it into a whole meeting point thats great! unless you are antisocial

Wont happen, I would expect Sony to be leading the charge to the next generation. 

It would be worthless for Sony to continue to flounder with the PS3 while MS would be on their next generation of consoles.  Sony has learnt a lot this time around and will bury the PS3 as soon as they can.  Why would they continue to try and market a system that currently isnt as successful as the WII and 360 what would be the point ??

The 360 would have more chance of a longer than expected lifespan than the PS3.  Sony will just stay in the race and want to clean the slate ASAP to get ready for the next battle.

The NXE enables 360 users to party up in groups up to 8 with a universal 8 person dedicated chat. The party can then jump in and out of games instantly, together. No more messing with muting people =D

I'm sorry, but the NXE is WAY more advanced than the XMB. First, it's server based which makes things very fast and changes can be streamlined. Second, it initiated the other great community feature I mentioned above, as well as the ability to share files and videos while in those parties. Third, it enabled Netflix users to stream directly to their HDTV's. Fourth, it opened up the community so they can create their actual own arcade games and sell them, and even make a profit! That beats making levels in LBP which aren't even your property as per the Sony EULA and ToS.

Really, the only thing new Home is bringing, is the virtual world to walk around in. I find that unnecessary since if I want to go bowling with friends or play chess, etc. I can jump into a party then hit the arcade games. Don't get me wrong, I hope Home is great and I hope Sony can bring some great new features out to get me to use my PS3 some more, because right now I have only owned 1 game, and I sold it after it got unplayable online because of the horrible lag (not my internet. I have 20mbps and had everything configured correctly).

Here's hoping Killzone 2 is great!
