Idiot. In 5 years he can get the same PC for $400-$600.
Why waste 8K on a computer when you can get a PS3, Wii, 360, PSP, DS, and 100 games each?

If you spend that $8,000 well (as in not on the stuff in the OP.. Or spend much less than $8000), you could make a PC for working on things like video editing and you could make money to buy more things.

When you invest in a car and keep it in good condition for long enough, it can gain value. Not so for PC builds.

 I agree! I'd buy a freakin 60+ inch high def TV!!! Hook up my PS3/360 and play the way gaming was meant to be!!

I would do the same, only I would connect a PC and play it at 1080p, 60hz, tripple buffered, Vsync with 8x AA. The way games a really really meant to be played.
