Forums - Gaming - which console is better and 6 good games?

This is a good question, but what I would say is look at the games you want. Don't listen to others make your own choice. But if you need any pointers here is a quick rundown of things you may need to consider.

Games, I think the 360 has this one covered. the PS3 has some good games but overall this is the 360.

Movies, Now this one is not as easy, the PS3 has Blu-ray but in my opion this is not really that good. I think the advantage is small over upscaled DVD. But it does have to go to the PS3

Online, this one I have to hand to the 360 and I play both PS3 and 360 games online and with the 360 there is a better sence of community, so this has to go to the 360

Future, I fell the PS3 is not getting the attention that it deserves and when it comes to software sales it looks like 40 - 50 % of the hardware purchaced is for moves which is not good. Over the next few years this I think will conyinue and leave the PS3 with a good number of hardware sales but the software will not be there, but the 360 is just selling TONES of software so the future looks really good here, so again this is a 360.

These are just my opions and for the record i have all three consoles.

Excellent quality post.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Most of the avid gamers in my trusted network I know who have all 3 consoles and a relatively good gaming PC follow roughly the same pattern:

PS3: They rent Blu-rays and purchase the odd one or two exclusives and PSN games.

Wii: They have 4 nunchuks/remotes and whip them out only when company/family/nephews/nieces are around.

360: They play online almost every other day and buy relatively more exclusives including XBLA.

PC: Collecting dust usually since most have given up WoW but Burning Crusade/WotLK keeps it alive and alot of anticipation for Starcraft 2/Diablo 3.

I wouldnt want to pay additionally for Blu-Ray/higher specs for my PC at the moment because Im having way too much fun on the 360. Thats just me. It should always boil down to what games you want to play and get the hardware to play those games - thats the best advice for anyone.

Picking only 6 recommendations for 360, I would say Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Mass Effect, BioShock, GTA4, Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero World Tour. But it really depends what games you like.

It's a remake of a thread mistakingly made in the SONY thread.

@sepisfu, my opinion still stands, if you are looking for Blu-Ray and a console, the PS3 is still the most economical option for now.

Blu ray player for less than £150
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h__1_4?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=blu+ray+player&sprefix=blu+

Xbox 360 cheapest is now £130

^^bear in mind though that Blu-Ray is a major part of his decision

150 pounds = $200+ does it not?

so 150 + 130 = 280 pounds.

PS3 bundle (with hard drive) = +/-285 pounds

All in one unit, so it saves space too. for just 5 pounds more.

I'd say thats more economical.

I would highly recommend the DS.

But for consoles I'd say a Wii60 would give you 95% of the games for about the same price as a PS3. And most multiplat games are (slightly) better on 360.

Wii exclusives:
Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime 3
Mario Kart
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Zelda Twilight Princess
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn

360 exclusives
Halo 3
Gears of War
Tales of Vesperia
Ninja Gaiden II
Fable II
Mass Effect

@Kantor: I have a HDTV and the Wii is looks perfectly fine, thank you. For your interest: Wii has 16x9 and 480p output, so a HDTV is better than a regular TV for Wii as well.

Yes but PS3 is apparently a superior blu-ray player (read that on CNET I think), the 130 pound 360 is an Arcade, and the PS3 combines them both into one system.

In the end, it's your choice, but IF you want blu-ray, I say PS3 is the hands down winner here.

copied from other thread....

Well it depends on what your primary game choice is. Do you really like Nintendo franchises OR do you really like super high quality graphics?

Since you would like the BR player, IF you would prefer higher graphics and are not a huge Nintendo franchise you should buy the PS3.

PS360 have nearly identical game library choices. They share almost all of the same games and unless you are a major JRPG fan I would go PS3.

Now, if you really like Nintendo, like me, and think graphics are great, but they don't make the game, then you should go with a Wii and stand alone BR player.

Basically what it comes down to is games. Buy the system with the majority of games you like. If you really like Nintendo, go Wii, If you really like JRPG or Gears go 360, if you really like a lot of the various HD games out, go with a PS3 as you also gain the BR player you want anyways.

But, if money really isn't an issue as you stated in the OP. Get a PSWii for the best of both worlds. Only thing you would miss is Gears and JRPGs. However, Wii will get those JRPGs soon enough.

Not quite the same, but I can't wait for Monster Hunter 3.

IF wii, I would go with...

Wii Play (only $10 since you would need another controller anyways, Tanks FTW!)
Super Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime 3
REsident Evil 4
Mario KArt Wii
Zelda Twilight Princess
Zack & Wiki

EDIT: Also at least get a wii points card. There are WAY to many great VC and WiiWare games out there.
