Forums - Sales - Atari Lynx sales ?

Hi,

first: Thanks to all of you, this is a really great website. A lot of interesting numbers and nicely illustrated.

I`m interested in sales figures for the good old Atari Lynx. Is there anyone who can contribute any number ? Would really appreciate it...

Thank you.

I'm guessing between 38 and 47.

But I tend to be optimistic.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I am amazed by the fact that your post count is ZERO despite the fact that I am looking at your first post! Dude, you are blowing my mind!!

That's actually nothing special. Happens all the time.

LOL, guess that might be a real good estimation...

Hope to get some real numbers to confirm your estimate...

Probably not too much but when they were first out I really wanted one. Settled for a Game Gear which might have been a better choice. Lynx had some decent games if I remember correctly. Always wanted that airplane game yet not sure if it was any good.

It sounds like this place doesn't count threads you create as posts.  It happens at a lot of message boards.

Atari Lynx was a good number of years in the stores ....I woulndt be surprised if its sales were actually way higher that some people think here.It sold decently in Europe too.

The plane game was called Blue Lighting and yes ,it was really good. The graphics were amazing for the time.

Wikipedia says "less than 500k". Take that with a grain of salt.

I heard it sold over 450K. The first model was really bulky and was a battery drainer. A highschool friend owned one. I liked the Toki port.

It was very powerful for its time (actually the first color handheld, 4K color pallette), much more interesting than a Gameboy from this perspecitve (personally I like Klax a lot better than mono color Tetris). But of course for a handheld form factor, pricing and battery life are far more crucial, for powerful gaming at home it made much more sense to own an Amiga.
