Well, the end of the year is upon us, and it's been really good for Sony's little handheld.

MHP2G helped the PSP have a good reign over Japanese sales for the better half of the year, but now we're coming into the home stretch, and with the recent DSi launch, will PSP be able to hold it back?  All PSP has between now and end-year is Dissidia, so it should be fairly interesting to see if PSP can be not only the top selling handheld, but top selling video game system in Japan for the year 2008.  This thread will be updated weekly to see  which console will win!

Week Ending November 9th YTD Sales:

3,125,053 - PSP

2,826,626 - DS

Difference:  298, 427 in favor of the PlayStation Portable

It would seem so, but the Japanese market has grown really unpredictable and it remains to be seen what the DS can pull off during the holidays. Then again, the holiday gains in sales in Japan are smaller than the West.

Hmmm don't know but you have to take in account that before DSi launch the market was satured with DS. 1 japanese out of 5 did own a DS, it's the equivalent of 61 millions DS in USA. This is just crazy!

Could be, unless a little game called Chrono Trigger has something to say about that
